Can anyone help me? I am trying to find out if there is a Canadian equivalent of LASORS. If there is, can it be downloaded from the web?

Many thanks

I would like to help, but don't know what "LASORS" are?

LASORS = Licensing, Administration and Standardisation (LAS) + Operating Requirements and Safety (ORS)

LASORS 2003 - LAS Section (http://www.caa.co.uk/srg/licensing/fcl/document.asp?groupid=292)

To my knowledge, a similar document does not exist here in Canada. Some of the information could be found in the AIP Canada (http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/communications/centre/AIP.htm) (Aeronautical Information Publication) but it's not available online. Other licensing information you may be able to get from this website:

Transport Canada - General Aviation (http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/general/menu.htm)

Not as well written, here's what your looking for.

http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/Regserv/Affairs/cars/Part4/menu.htm

Specifically
http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/Regserv/Affairs/cars/Part4/Standards/Standard421.htm

Also
http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/general/personnel/gen.htm

And
http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/general/exams/guides/tp12880/Menu.htm

http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/general/exams/guides/tp12881/Section1.htm

http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/general/flttrain/PLANES/Pubs/TP13723/menu.htm

http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/general/flttrain/PLANES/Pubs/TP13462/menu.htm

That should be EVERYTHING you need and then some. If you need a bit more info, let me know and I'll help you navigate the rather lousy Transport Canada Website.

Hi, Mostly Harmless :

Now if you really want to do something that would make you the most admired person in Canadian Aviation could you sit down with a couple of our Pacific Region M&M people and teach them how to interpet the CAR's.

I can give you the names of a couple who are unable to understand even the most basic of english words when they are reading the CAR's.

It is really quite frightening to know that we have people enforcing something they are incapable of understanding themselves when they read it.... CAR's

Then when you get these gems educated I will personally pay your trip to Ottawa to explain the meaning of these everyday english words to the truly IQ challenged that made their way into the higher TC Civil Aviation offices in Ottawa.

If you could do that I personally would do my best to see that you are inducted into the Aviation Hall of Fame. :ok:

And you would be my hero and part of the book I am writing about Aviation. :ok: :ok:

Sincerely:

Chuck Ellsworth

Hello Chuck,

I can do difficult, but the impossible...

I'm only going to live to be about 80 to 100; I just don't have that kind of time. I do appreciate the offer to make me a Hall of Famer though. Thank you for the massive vote of confidence.

I do believe that no one will ever solve the Mystery of the CAR’s. Scholars of the future will be bewildered for generations trying to solve their meaning.

Damn! Fame so close I can see it. Me in a book, as the hero no less. I do look forward to your book with great anticipation.

Best regards,

Mostly Harmless

Hey Chuck....I remember when TC did their dog and pony show a decade ago when CAR's were being introduced. One of the big things that was so often repeated, it almost became a mantra, was that with the introduction of CAR's there would no longer be this variation of interpretation between the regions of Air Regs/ANO's. You have shattered my image of TC! You mean they were just joshing? LOL ;) :ok:

604 guy :

In the summer of 2002 I spent about a month in Portugal giving type ratings to a group of Aussies who had bought a Chilean PBY6A.. ( Great bunch of guys. )

There was a guy from CASA there for the whole time helping with all the paper work getting the thing over on the Australian register.

We became good friends and he listened to the story of the screwing TC M&M gave me. He was stunned that in a so called free democratic society such police state tactics would be condoned.

He related how some of the leading lights from Ottawa were helping CASA to embrace CARS.

He stated flatly that judging by the fiasco CAR's turned into in Canada if CASA did go foward and take the advice that TC was giving, it would be the end of aviation in Australia.

I wonder how things are going for my friend these days?

TC has turned into a unworkable monster that just feeds on the aviation industry. I wonder if these idiots have enough neurons between them to fix their system???

Do you think that is possible?

Every night as I go to bed I kneel facing all the cardinal pionts of the compass to make sure I have the right direction and thank who ever runs the universe I no longer need to work in their world.

Oh by the way, some of them don't like me, because they can't intimidate me, I just tell em to shove it where the sun don't shine.

Chuck

Chuck,
Were you involved at all in the Catalina that was to fly down the Nile on the old 'Empire 'route to South Africa. I vaiguely remember seeing a TV documentary on it. I was not surprised to discover that the plane didn't stay on Canadian registration. Was the project overregulated into extinction?
By the way, Sao tome and Principe can usually be persuaded (with a couple of bottles of Canadian Club) to register a plane for all kinds of projects. S9-CAT would probably be available!!
