Hello sirs,

Question, this is related only to U10.3 and up.

I know you can select the engine out advisory page with both engines running. What I do not know is since VNAV cannot be engaged (Page cannot be EXECU) does this mean you can no longer engage VNAV for the flight after displaying and selecting either LT or RT Engine out information?

cheers,

Crvm

You can, but it will not be affected by the EO pages. Nor will it take the one engine performance into account.
The EO are nothing but 'electronic inflight performance charts.' Instead of looking up the info in the manual, the FMS does it for you. It simply doesn't do anything with it. Calling up the pages has no effect on any other system in the aircraft.

i know for U6.0 and before U10.3 if executed you can no longer re-engage vnav back....vnav function is lost ,you ll have to choose either lvl change or v/s....but i heard that for NG eng out page cannot be executed anyways so vnav cannot be lost isnt't that true ?

Ok that's new for me! :)

On the -300s and -700s I flew (pretty new updates), the EO page couldn't be executed...

Yes this seems much more difficult to figure out then I expected.

I know U10.3 and above the EO pages cannot be executed. But where does it say that just looking or selection of the EO PROPMTS disconnects VNAV in the first place? I cannot locate anything in the AOMs etc. Bill Bulfer states you can access the data even with both engines running and to return to the normal CRZ page by simply pushing the CRZ key. But that is not too much help either.

I think the only sure way to get a clear answer is in the full sim, aerosim does not show this (suprised) as I am sure no NG driver is going to test it up there ;)

CRVM,
Just to side track for a minute, sorry.....
You mentioned the Aerosim simulator, and having never heard of it, I've looked on Aerosim's web-site. The simulator looks good.
How much did you pay for it? Would you recommend it? The web-site has no prices..
Thank you.

You can purchase some simplified versions (no MCP etc) of the software here

http://aerosim.com/bizjet/biz_atrnsprt.htm

The type I was refering to

http://aerosim.com/airline_training/atr_dt_fmst.htm

cannot be purchased by individuals, only airlines/training centers etc..

There are nothing better for free play simulation IMO. What's very neat is that they actually *fly* so you can program the FMS like you would for all phases of flight.

Ok, Ive checked and the updates I used to fly on the -300s were u10.3. On this one and later, you cannot execute the page, and viewing it or selecting it has no effect whatsoever on any other part of the FMS. Hope this helps (a little :))
