Can any BAW pilots tell me what the '3 Mnth Route Stats' are, that appear on the top right of the first page of the SWORD? I presume it is to do with fuel. Can anyone confirm that?

They refer to the average excess (or otherwise) of fuel carried on that sector over the previous 3 months. It gives an indication of any likely additional fuel requirements due to e.g. holding, routings etc.. Extra fuel shown here is a good indicator that you too will need some extra fuel for the leg, as your contingency fuel is for 'unforseen variations' (FCO1750) to the operation. Clearly if an excess is indicated on SWORD, then the variation is not unforseen.
Hope that helps

What does SWORD stand for? Is it just the name of a computer program for generating flight plans? (We use "Eagle")

Another version of SWORD that I have heard of is 'Sure Way Of Running Dry!'

Thanks for your help!

Another version of SWORD - Sure Way Of Running Dry!

Actually the whole Flight planning/ fuel Calc system is about to be replaced. The new program will be better able to cope with random routings and will use a variable contingency figure rather than a fixed percentage.

Still won't stop me sticking a bit extra on when the weather gets bad!!
