Sorry guys but the CAA website is about as much use as a chocolate teapot ! Could someone point me to a link where I can find out the requirements for keeping my newly obtained licence current.

Thanks.

Try this (http://www.flyer.co.uk/jar/ppl_valid_single.php) flow chart from the Flyer website.

That's a pretty good chart but I see that it says if a certificate of revalidation has lapsed then a skills test must be passed with an examiner, rather than a just a proficiency test(as is the case in the 3 months preceeding the expiry). My certificate expired in february but the place I am revalidating at insists that all I need to do is a proficiency test, without the NAV element.Another nearby school says the same thing....who is right, them or me?

Beethoven,

What you need to do is Renew, not revalidate your rating (Single Pilot, Single Engine (Land) Plane).

i.e. before the expiry you can revalidate, after the expiry you must renew. After a certain period (5 years?) the rules are different again.

The Revalidation Skill Test is basically the same as the original Skill test, but without the Nav element. Mine took 50 minutes.

It's all in the LASORS document. I will add a link here when I can find it.

TallGuy.

Edit: And here is the link -
http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/175/Lasors_Section_F.pdf

For those not familiar with the CAA website, the licensing documentation is all filed under the "Safety" tab.
