I know we covered this a couple of weeks ago, but I could not find the thread.

Anyway, I see in the "New Reg's" page in this months "Pilot" that someone has managed to register a Gazelle..... G-FUKM!!!!

:ok: :ok: :ok: :ok: :ok:

Nice one :p

I just hope no-one gets G-ANDY before I can afford to register my own aircraft!

Hang on, strike that: I think I would rather go on the N-reg...

Too late. G-ANDY was a DH104 Dove 6, registered on 29.9.53, and damaged beyond repair after crashing on take-off from Edinburgh 29.5.62.

Best stick with N-reg, Andy. Someone got G-ANDY 40 years ago, on a Dove, and it crashed in 1962. Nor could you have G-AUSI or G-AUSS, because those would have been Australian registrations prior to 1929. Unlike the FAA, our dear CAA doesn't allow re-allocations, transfers of registration or re-use of 'British Colonial' registrations long since surpassed by State systems, though I've never understood or believed the lame explanations they put forward about possible ATC confusion of aircraft type. Whatever aeroplane you are able to afford in the future, I doubt that it would be a Sopwith Antelope like 'AUSS.

Get a move on! G-AUSS has gone but G-AUSI is as yet unregistered :)

Is it not possible to pre-register (reserve) a registration with the CAA for future possible use?

Yes it is, I know people who have done this.

However they charge you a recurring fee to reserve a registration until you use it.
