I have just had notification that the Nav2000 French general aviation information web site can no longer afford to continue operation.

I am sure many UK pilots will miss this very useable source of reference for notams, weather and airfields.

I hope something will turn up to enable the site to continue.

That's a real shame - it's a great site. :(

I don't think anything is going to come along to save it. The creator of the site, Xavier Werquin, has explained today on the FNA forum why the site can not be continued - unless someone other than him is prepared to run it personally and at a loss.

Here's his post - in French. (http://www.fna.asso.fr/index.php?include=forum&id=45294&action=read&page=1&r=7&item=&retour=true&tri=)

It's very sad, as NAV2000 was an excellent site.

Xavier's CV is posted on www.nav2000.com (http://www.nav2000.com) if anyone is looking for a very talented multi-lingual entrepreneur for any reason.

A mon avis, un projet comme NAV2000 n’est économiquement pas viable car il s’adresse à un marché trop petit. Sadly, he's probably right.

I can only echo the sentiment of one of the other posters on that thread:

respect,
et, merci

Good news - NAV2000 (http://www.nav2000.com/) is back!

Merci Xavier! :)

Excellent news. NAV 2000 was my first stop for a/p info abroad until it stopped working a few months ago.

Fly Stim,' did you get your 'plane sorted out after the vandalism (Redhill???) earlier in the year? Hope you did. :ok:

FujiF (merci Xavier, bonne chance pour l'aviner)

Yes thanks Fujiflyer. The original was written off by the insurers (sad, but probably for the best) and I subsequently got another one as a replacement which arrived just at the end of the summer. I have moved to a different airfield now!
