hi all,
Can anyone tell me (as a brit!) what the aerospace engineering market is like in Canada? Who are the major companies out there? Do Air Canada employ post graduate engineers?

If you're talking about designing aircraft, you want Bombardier. Air Canada would hire aircraft maintenance engineers, as would WestJet, Field Aviation, Spar or one of several maintenance shops accross the country. I'm not sure about the aerospace design work in Canada, but the aircraft maintenance side is hiring pretty steadily. You could try looking at the following links to see if they lead you anywhere.

Something must have drastically changed then, because when I was talking to people at SAIT and WestJet this past year, they said that the maintenance side was doing pretty well. Both Spar and Westjet have had AME or avionics jobs posted on their websites regularily for about the past year. I figured that with about 90% of the AME, avionics and structures students coming out of SAIT being hired within 6 months that things weren't that bad.

I could be wrong as I'm not directly involved with that part of the industry. That's why I posted those links to try to help rich49.

Not a lot of jobs in Canada right now if you have any experiance. Most places I've looked at want to pay me less than I made when I was an apprentice, and the work is temporary. And about SPAR, stay away if you have any self respect.
