The Blackpool ac may be one of the 733Ws which have a lower fuel burn and therefore a better range. Just a thought.

The 757 have moved and the majority are based at LBA and MAN now. With two at NCL.

Have jet2 managed to leave themselves short of aircraft for the next few days with 2x Boeing 757-200's G-LSAC & G-LSAK doing the New York shopping trips?

As I see Titan Airways, Boeing 757-200, G-POWH is operating today's Manchester-Arrecife service...

Might it not make sense perhaps for them to time the shopping trips so the aircraft can come straight back? The first and last trip would still have 1 aircraft away for 3-4 days but the others wouldn't

Yeah after I thought my plan through I realised it would be too complicated if you had say 1 aicraft fly out to New York from Leeds, and 3 days later an aircraft operating NCL-EWR-LBA for the Leeds return... But you still have a 757 stuck in EWR, unless more flights were added, but then you need 1 more 757!

So... Not worth it really.

They needed to schedule them for early July so they could bring a bunch of Americans over for the Tour de France.

I must say i am very impressed with Jet2, i have a vacation booked with them to Bodrum going out 8th May from EMA, and just booked my seats going out and back and only £34.oo.

Does EMA not have a 757 any more ? if not, they did use to have one didn't they ?

Also would the AC i be on be one of the jet2 ones or a holiday covered logo one ?

I use to be cabin crew at EMA years ago, so out the industry now, and i must admit i am quite looking forward to my Jet2 experience.

So by looking at earlier replies i am on a 738 ?

...some of them are not far off 27 years old so its maybe no bad thing if your looking for modern fuel efficiency. Although if I remember last summer it was the 737's that caused most of the maintenance headaches!

The 757 beats both the 737-300 and 800 in terms of fuel efficiency per passenger per mile.

How does it beat the B738 which is a generation younger and and which airlines are replacing B757s with? I don't understand that.

Purely in fuel efficiency terms the 757s (even without winglets) have a lower fuel burn per Km than the 800s.

I guess the 800 is cheaper to buy and maintain.

B757s are now rapidly reaching the time when they become expensive to operate due their reliability
