Have just seen some interesting news on the flybe website:

Advertising link removed.

Seems there are to be daily flights to Belfast and 4 times weekly flights to Birmingham, starting on the 21st May 2008.

New Flights with Loganair(Flybe)

According to the Flybe website Dundee is to be linked daily to BHD and 4x week to BHX. BHX wont last long with that schedule but that seems to be the plan with Flybe at Birmingham?????

I'll be pleased if the Dundee/BHX flights fit in with work - it's easier going there than EDI though I guess it might not have a decent pint of Deuchars IPA on sale in the departure lounge...

The Flybe website said flights start in May this year, but no mention of when booking starts.

What are the prices likely to be like to belfast? I presume it'll be a q400?

Edit: I realised 10 seconds after posting that that the press release had all the pricing info...

Aircraft likely to be a saab 340 since loganair are running it?

Given the recent spate of advert links a review of forum policy may be in order. No advertising links please. Advertising links include company press releases taken in total and/or with links to ticket selling sites.

Cool

Simon is correct, the Loganair site has the correct info.

It will be a SAAB 340B.

Cheers.

Would it not be prudent on flybe's part, if they intend to sell flights as of today, to actually make them availble to book through their website? Or indeed, have any mention of serving Dundee on their website at all?

Dundee Birmingham Press

The route was covered in the local Birmingham press today with a half page colour advert from Flybe dedicated to the Dundee service. At least it is being marketed.

No one planning to go to Belfast I hope.

Evening paper mentions problems acquiring slots in Belfast. Is that not the kind of thing that gets sorted out before routes, dates etc etc are announced?

Only the vast majority of people I know at Uni and work who live in and around Belfast, and myself aswell to go visit them!

I think Flybe will make a great success of this route, as long as they advertise it properly. The Flywhoosh route was hardly advertised from what I saw. Flybe need to hand out flyers, put ads in the local papers, advertise at the two Student centres. They must know there is a very large Irish population here in Dundee, mainly students, a low cost route from Dundee to Belfast will prove popular if it's promoted enough!

They'd be absolutely mad not to get the Belfast flight going. Although the planned start in late may will be after term time ends and so they'll have to wait until september or maybe even after to start reaping the benefit...

Belfast now sorted, starts May 21 to BHD 1X daily ex Sat, fares aren't exactly low cost though.

£35 one way isn't bad when using a 34 seater for low cost flights.

Similar to FlyWhoosh?

No need to worry about Flybe advertising the route, thats one thing they have always been very good at.

I saw a VLM aircraft leaving DND the other day, was there a reason for this visitor?

I've also seen, what I think is, a Short 360, without any clear titles performing a series of landing and take offs these past few days...anyone have any idea what that's all about

Finally, glad to see that Flybe have been advertising the new routes well, I've seen ads on the sides of taxis and busses all over the place, as well as bus stop adverts and I think I saw at least one bilboard...hopefully they'll do well with these routes.

Fish:

Your 360 is a training Benair machine from/to ABZ.

I would guess that the VLM is the JER charter for the summer.
