Aeros

SlalapanziThank you for a moving tribute to Brian and Marrion. They were two of the nicest people it has ever been my privilege to meet. I have been a friend of Brian for 30 years and as long as I've known him Marrion has been with him. Brian was the person who introduced me to aerobatics and I too have flown numerous times with Brian and found him to be a more than capable pilot. His approach was always exemplary and I would have had no hesition in letting my wife or children (who I love very much)fly with him. I trusted him implicitly. I dont know what happened on that terrible day but do know that aviaiton is the poorer for the loss of all these people. Rest in Peace Brian and Marrion and thank you for your wonderfull friendship and hospitality. We had great times at Rand, Petit and your home in Bedforview. I miss you terribly

By that report, they would still be alive if they would have flown just 100ft higher... which is still way below the Grid MORA

They must both have been completely ignorant of the danger they were flying into - a complete no-brainer.

Unhappy SAD

Wow! The preliminary result is not very conclusive and mostly states known information, but it seems my "take" on what might have happened, is pretty accurate. I hope this never ever happens again. But sadly history shows that I am wrong when I think CFIT is going to end. I can't help but to feel sad and helpless to know that avoidable accidents like these, ARE going to happen in the future, and I can't avoid it.

Piapito, You are correct, sadly it does not look as if this type of crash will ever end. I refer here back to my post (#39, page 2) and the cartoon on this exact topic that dates back nearly 4 decades... This is especially sad for all the passengers that in good faith end up in such a mess.

Does anyone know what the SAAF numbers of those aeroplanes were?

Paging through Frans Dely's showcase on SA aerobats and can only shake my head in sadness at the page on the Warbird formation team...
