Whilst I understand & in many ways agree with your views on what happens when a business invests for the short term, I think in this instance you need to take into account what GIP has done at LGW. Maybe they plan to keep LGW for more than 7 years, I don't know. Either way, I think there may be a requirement to be open minded for now.
