Greg,
Familiar names there, good guys all. You must be ex-TriStar? You might like to try posting your request also on the "Gulf Air latest developments" thread in the Middle East forum - possibly more active than this one. Additionally, FaceBook might be an option - I know a couple of that generation of guys pop up occasionally there.

I was 737 89-90 and 767 90-95. Probably the most fun time of my career! Hung up my headset 2014 after further 19 years on 777 with EK.

Are you aware of the annual GF Reunions in London? Haven't attended for some years but some of the old stalwarts from the TriStar such as Colin Pritchard are regulars. Believe there's a website with lots of photographs somewhere.

Any idea where Ted Whalan might be these days?

Would be good to see the pics. I went to Eva then Jal some time back in PNG flying a D8 and F50. Solomons on the D8 and now the 146 night freight Cairns based. Colin was the FE when I checked out on the Tristar with Murray Douglass. Wrote in my training file C.O.O.P.T which stood for checked out on Pear tree a local near Heathrow which put on a lunch time show with local talent for the local factory workers. Havn't seen nor heard of Ted recently. Hed have to be quite old. Did hear he was living on Sydney Harbour?

Good to hear. Ted was a great character to fly with, and a great stick and rudder guy. His bunk building technique using nav bags was outstanding👍😁!
I wish him well and many more years on the Harbour. As Iím sure would anyone who worked with him!

Thomas :thought we had this going on some other thread, somewhere else, some time ago but it remains nice to see the ole boy's name up again. Apologies, though,if I repeat.

First met Ted at Sir John Cass College in 1967 (!) He was doing his ATPL.I had talked myself into a Nav/Cadet course with Cally as a way into piloting. I made it through other avenues but met up with Ted, again in 1993. GF stopped taking DE Captains on the 767 and I joined as a FO in the hope of rapid upgrade. Rostered together, he wished me well in a quick return to the LHS and then asked ; "Ok, ready for briefing ?" "Go ahead. " ; said I . Ted continued ; " I will taxi on the taxi-ways, take-off on the runways and fly on the airways.................Any questions ?"

Classic.
