..London School of Flying at Elstree....1980 to 1990's

.....looking for the full name of my Flying Instructor at the LSF at Elstree..he was called by the name of "Sami or Sammy". He trained me for a PPL 'twin engine rating' in a Grumman Gougar...Made some inquires early in 2014 and was told he had 'passed on' a few years ago. Would be most grateful for any further information. Thank you.

I knew him as Sami Awad. I seem to recall that when I last visited Elstree I was told he was working at one of the clubs there. LSF and Cabair have long since gone.

.....that is Correct...Thank You..

...my log book was unfortunately 'destroyed' and was hopefully going to inquire to the CAA(UK) about the possibility of referring to Sami Awad's records to confirm some of my hours/etc. Many Thanks to you TheiC, for finding Sami's surname.....Best Regards, Chris Howes

Just seen your post about Sami Awad from 2015. Sami also taught me to fly at Elstree in the early 80s. Really sorry to read that he'd died. I didn't see him for years after completing my PPL, but bumped into him in a supermarket - must have been in about 2002. He was an inspirational and great teacher. Remember so many fun times flying with him.
