I'm writing my Autobiography, and obviously THE series will have a chapter all of its own! Anyone who might like to contribute stories or who can put me in touch with Robbie Low or Rhod Smart, please contact me via: [email protected] I hope to maise funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund and Cancer Research (if anyone buys it!!)

Is this Martin writing? Sorry, but the username leaves much to the imagination. If it's you, mate, get in touch. I probably can't help, but it'd be nice to catch up!

Well, I for one have two books on my desk shelves that I never want to part with. Head in the Clouds, by Goronwy Edwards and of course, First Light, by Geoffrey Wellum.

These two books are little treasures, but making money? It has to be a labor of love - but with e-books and vigorous promoting, one never knows, it might do well. However, I it is nice to have a real book to show for one's work.

I know nothing about these people, but Edwards' book was published by Airlife Publishing Ltd Shrewsbury who seem to specialize in the genre. However, although there's a lot of links on goo goo, none seem to be the actual company.

I'm having to make a decision about publishing right now. One thing's for certain, going to print requires a professional level of editing, though having said this, my pal's novel can be amended with relative ease before the next print run. A super and trustworthy little company, but in Dublin, so shipping costs for small batches are too high.

Scroggs - he's on LinkedIn if you need or would like to get in touch, but from what b15oxo has written above that sounds like your man.

Well you'll have one sale here anyway. Interested to know the background to the series. I enjoyed the TV programme but watched it with a sense of frustration which I can even now relive by watching it on Youtube. Frustrated because aged 21 my ambition to be a military pilot or aircrew was already dead in the water for what can only be described as bureacratic reasons. So to see individuals walk away from the opportunity was beyond comprehension to me.

Man A - 'I'm writing a novel'

Man B - 'Yes, neither am I'

(Paraphrasing a Private Eye cartoon of many years ago. Peter Cook?)

Has anybody read a newly published book called Stirling to Essen about a Stirling that crash landed near Godmanchester? I have ordered a copy and it has been delayed due to reprinting. Whether that was due to errors or sales more than expected I know not.

Twelve vendors on Amazon with new copies available from 10.37 and, somewhat surprisingly, used copies available at a higher price.

Haven't read the book myself (yet) but there are some very positive reviews on aforementioned site.

Hi all in the know - I have a couple of questions. I am resurrecting this old thread as I was rewatching the series on the Youtoobs.

Episode 4 features the studes tipping in at Linton on the JP straight from Episode 3 at OCTU Henlow.

Was there a Flying Selection phase on Chipmunks first? If so, it is not mentioned by the narrator. Does this mean that 1970s ab-initio studes went straight to the JP?

Also, if their 16 week IOT was at OCTU, does that mean there were Flight Cadets at Cranwell up to 1981 on a 2 year course (IOT, BFT and wings combined?)

Cheers
