so called bonuses
i've seen some companies in the usa offering "sign up bonuses". silver airways on climbto350 (im not a member but saw the post) says sign on bonus of $12,000 . now to me a sign on bonus means exactly that .... start to work for us and will give you 12 grand BUT when i saw the fine print on their web site its states 6 grand upon completion of training and 6 grand upon completing 2 years with them. it seems to me this would open the company up to litigation doesn't it? reeks of false advertising. and ameriflight has a banner ad on climbto350 which states bonuses to $7500 , yet when i visited their web site all bonuses were 1000 to 2000 dollars, nothing close to $7500 ! i even sent them an anonymous email advising them of the discrepancy. even though i'm trying to help them avoid a lawsuit they didn't even bother to reply to say thanks.:*

I would be careful with my own spelling and punctuation before criticising what someone else advertises.

thanks d8 for the insightful reply. i re-read my post and don't see any major spelling errors and granted punctuation isn't the best, i am posting at a casual web site. next time i post on pprune, i'll run it past my mother the english major .:ok:

The use of upper case letters would be a good start.

With litigation-related questions, you might want to consult an attorney.

I was just reading an article about this.
I would say very few people would ever collect the full bonus. That is why its on offer instead of a pay rise. People see a salary increase from day one. Bonuses can take years to get and are easy to forfeit. Regionals are just not interested in treating pilots like humans. |
