job clarification
Hy Guys,
I need some clarification about job in USA. I was told that under a certain weight ( 12.500 lbs or so) a pilot can legally work in the USA without a job permission, is that true? I wal talking to a guy stating that, for example, people can work on Cessna Caravan without job permission, but I am not sure at all. Any light on that? Thank you Liftman |
No light son.
This gay guy (you said it….) probably meant flying a Caravan. Not working (which means getting paid). Many pilots started flying and -unofficially- working in the US. Then you can find yourself a nice girl (or the guy that gave you the info…) and continue working legally. The question will be, what can you fly. |
NoodleAir is correct, you can't even (legally) wash dishes in the US without a work authorization. I'm an immigrant myself, I would know.

I think something is getting lost in translation. You can be PIC of most airplanes under 12,500 pounds in FAA land without a type rating, the endorsement on your certificate that says you've been trained and checked in that type airplane. But to be paid to fly, or as pointed out above, to hold any type of job, you have to be a citizen or hold a green card.
|
Technically, you don't even necessarily have to hold a Green Card, it's sufficient to have APPLIED for adjustment of status. While that's pending, one can also apply for Employment Authorization (Form I-765). Whether or not you're eligible for one depends on what your status was upon entry.

ok guys thanks to all...the discussion was born since now Europe and especially Italy is a big mass, so I was thinking moving...2000TT 1500IR various experiences...any chance?
|
Well, the Continental US is a big mass too. Land mass that is.
I don't know what you need the mass figure for….. What "various experiences" mean? I have a couple of suggestions in mind but you need to be more specific. First of all, do you hold a US license (FAA)? |
completely lost in translation. come on guys cut the Italian some slack!!!
To the OP, no matter how many flying hours you have, you have to be sponsored by an American company to work here. Having an aviation company to sponsor you to work here in present scenario is almost impossible!! If you can get Permanent Residency in the US, then you have a chance at regional airlines here in the US. |
