EASA licence and work in USA
Hi, just wondering if anybody has the experience of coming from the old continent with JAA/EASA licence and working under FAA permanently, preferably on the 737 and higher. My question is what was the process like - time, money, overall paperwork transition etc. Any suggestions for FO with decent turbofan experience?... thanks and apologies if repost..

First things first...do you have the legal right to work in the US?

Just after "first things first", do you have an idea of the numbers of applicants versus the number of actual jobs? Each major airline has thousands of ATP-holding, Turbine PICs applying.

As someone who has come from the old Continent and now resides and works in the USA the first order of business is whether you have the right to reside and work here. In other words do you hold a US passport or a permanent resident card?
If not then the whole question becomes mute because you will not be granted the right to reside based on the fact you are a qualified professional pilot. The US has plenty of the home grown variety. If you do hold the right to residency then I would be more than willing to share my experiences. |
