PPL/CPL/Multi IR exam prep books - recommendations?

I have a JAR PPL (for 10years) but I'm looking to obtain a full (stand alone) FAA CPL/Multi IR. I have the learning material, but was wondering if anyone could recommend books for FAA exam prep? When I did my JAR PPL, we had banks of questions in books entitled "confusers". I was wondering if there is a FAA equivalent?

Well, it's been a while since I did an FAA exam, but unless things have changed, the two biggest players are ASA and Gleim's. I always preferred the ASA books. The biggest difference was that the ASA had the answers in the back of the book, and the Gleim's had the answers on the same page next to the question.

Some people prefer the Gleim's format as the answer was right there next to the question and they more easily associate the answer with the question that way. I had a little different method of studying, and the ASA format worked better for me. I think that the explanations in the ASA books were a little better than the Gleim's

Books? Get with the program, this is the twenty first century!

There's a thread a little ways down "Sheppard v. Dauntless" talking about two online test prep companies. However Sheppard doesn't have a private GS course.

For many people, it is easier to read complex documents in paper format, it is easy to get a highlighter and mark what is of interest.

Yes Electrons are great little thinks, but to actually write notes down assists learning, and to remove technology from the learning curve is a benefit for many.

I hate AFM soft copy, as to get an overview, paper is best.

A Squared is bang on - I just completed FAA writtens and used Gleim Knowledge Test books in conjunction with ASA Testprep software (which can be downloaded rather than CD install). Very happy with both. A couple things in Gleim slightly outdated, but no doubt updated in next edition. ASA Testprep was great because you can design your own quizzes to work on weak areas.

Everyone has their own study technique, but in conjunction with Testprep software you should blitz it easily.

+1 for Gleim also.

Sheppard Air all the way. Their database is continuously being updated and you will always have the up to date questions.
