Cape Air contacts?
 
Hi
Does anyone here currently fly for Cape Air on the 402's?
Just wondering about the current state of play and whether it's worth throwing a CV their way?
Just been made redundant :mad: in the UK and am looking for anything anywhere!

Heard through the ever-reliable aviation job grapevine that Cape Air was doing limited hiring into a pool, with the new folks going to the Essential Air Service contracts in the midwest (St. Louis). Mins were 1500 hours with something like 100 ME PIC, FAA ATP written complete, and U.S. citizen or right to work card holder. Hope that helps.

Hi there,
Cape air is doing some hiring as posted earlier. Steve Phillips was Chief pilot last I checked. He still works there and is very approachable. Good company to work for. Several furloughed drivers calling Cape home right now. Also get travel and jumpseat benefits.
Alot of intense IFR up north year round, be prepeared, they used to make training tough. Might have changed though.

Is that APC page right, 9 dollars an hour for a F/O? I'm sure they have lots of pilots maxing out their 401k contributions.

I would say that pay rate is correct. Bear in mind that 9K pilots get paid by the duty hour, not just flight hour. The other bad news is that I have been told that most lines in the Northeast are only 35 hour min.
Usually new hire FO's are hired closer to the 1200 hr mark so they can then be trained to fly 135 freight and get some PIC time. Company will then train you for your ATP ride.

hey guys, I have my buddy working for Cape Air and while I'm in the market, I would not apply to Cape Air. And I would advise you not to take the ATR at Cape air no matter how challenging it looks, if you are determined to apply with them. You will be getting paid $800 per 2 weeks which is not enough to cover even your basic necessities in Guam so be prepared to dig into your own savings. From what I've heard the group of people already settled in Guam carry a very weird mentality which will eventually cause you to lose your job -meaning that unless you flatter them (kiss their ass inside out) and accept all their insults they will be writing you up until you lose your job or make you quit.

Moreover, just because Cape air is afraid of losing pilots and of course no one wants to go to Guam, they will fail you on your ATR check-ride so they can be certain you will not leave them for another carrier by ruining your records. I would definitely not risk my records for the world. My friend told me some stories about a captain telling him that he was new and he would have to shut up, sit down and don't talk, calling him names etc.

The things he was telling me about the "politics" and reckless attitude as well as poor CRM from a lot of the captains is totally scary.. He mentioned that one of their aircraft was flying for over 6 months as per the mechanic told him with the right gear hydraulic lines reversed and none of the captains nor first officers out there caught that (this is dangerous). Cape air maybe is a good career starter but definitely not for a long time. If anyone else has some more input, I would be glad to hear it, but I still won't risk my career just because i need to start up somehow!
