Cessna C208 Operating Cost

Hi all,

I have a number of questions on the cost involved operating the Cessna C208 Amphibian;

1) What would be the cost of leasing a new/used C208 in the US or Canada, and what would be included in this price?

2) Which type of insurances are needed for commercial operation and what would be the approx cost?

3) The Cessna website states an hourly operating cost for the C208 ($358/hour), what is included in this number?

Any other useful info regarding operating the C208 is welcome. Thank you in advance.

Brgds,
Doc

Last I checked a land based 208 was $850 to $1000 per hour on charter with a pilot.
An amphib would be more, I'd guess at least 25% for freshwater ops.
Sounds like that Cessna number is fuel\MX (estimated\ and engine allowance.
Again amphib ops will increase that number.
As your pilot is pretty cheap you could figure that the difference between direct and charter cost is being mostly absorbed by capital costs, depreciation and insurance.

A big part of the DOC is the price of fuel. In the states it can range from $4.20 to 5.80 USD per gallon. If you plan to go Part 135 (air taxi) the insurance could be from $15,000 to $35,000 a year. I hope this doesn't scare you away, you have to charge enough to cover all costs and to make a profit.

I have set up a 135 operation with an amphib C172-180hp.
