Aviation medicals
Good evening,
Can anyopne tell me what the vision requirements are for a Commercial Pilot Licence in the U.S. I'm from Australia and my eyesight just doesn't make it due to a new rule brought in by CASA in Aus. Thus, I may have to look at flying in the US. Regards and thanks, ------------------ Paul Rankin First Officer B767-300ER East West Airlines (VA) Australia |
Try this web site, and look under FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations) 67.203. Click on the Part 67 to get there. It is too complex to provide here.
http://www1.drive.net/evird.acgi$pas...gulations.html If this does not work, start at www.landings.com and click on regulations (FARs). Good luck, Check 6 ------------------ Kick the tires, light the fires, first off is lead, brief on guard. |
Paul,
Basicly the vision requirements are that your vision must be corrected to at least 20/20. It used to be that if your vision was worst than 20/100 you had to get a waiver. I understand that this is not required any more. Richard |
If I remember correctly, Check 6 should know quite a bit about Vision requirements. He listed the best references available.
You might also want to check on some new methods available for vision correction. I have heard wonders about some of the latest such as Lasix?? Surgery. A simple in and out process. Question would be are they acceptable to your countries Flight Surgeon. Good Luck.. |
