FAA Licence acceptance
 

Does anybody know where an USA licence is accepted outside the US?

I’m holding a FAA CPL/ME/IR but I don’t have the right to work in the US. I also have a Dutch CPL but the jobmarket is really tight in Holland for a while already. So I’m looking for a job abroad.

My experience is 1200 hrs total and 800 multi.

Any info or tips would be very welcome.

I think that you would be better off looking for a job in EU with your Dutch licnece... Unless you have a greencard or something similar??????

Some of the Middle Eastern countries (Saudi in particular) accept FAA quals. Also some African and South American countries might.

From what I've found, if the country is "aligned" with a European country, i.e. The Bahamas is ex-UK colony, their Commercial requirements are broadly based on CAA or JAA licences.

There were rumours that Sabena liked to hire FAA qualified pilots. I don't know how true that is though. There maybe some Euro operators who run N regs too.

JJ, I don’t speak German yet but I’m working on it. I don’t have a greencard and I don’t think US companies are going to sponsor pilots in the near future.

My best bet is probably to get a JAA licence, although some people keep on telling me that you will lose your frozen ATPL if you convert a national CPL to the JAA. The Dutch CAA is kind of inconsistent on this issue. I need to have it “black on white’ before I will do a conversion.

It might be a good idea to send some resumes to Saudi Arabia in the mean time.

Anybody any experience with that??

I'm in exactly the same situation, exept I have a few less hours(600). I tried the middle east(Saudi e.t.c.) but situation there is hoopless unless you have a type rating and numorous hours turbine time. Your best shot is continuing to try here in Europe. Learning German is a good idea as many of are countryman are getting hired in Germany.
