work permit
I was wondering...does having a social security number give me the right to work in the States as a pilot or if not, would it make it any easier to get a work permit to do so? Anybody in the know?

KingAir. I don't know about social security numbers but I am heading to San Francisco in January to go to a flight school there and they tell me that you have to have a greencard to work for a US airline.
You must be a citizen and they rarely sponsor foreign nationals although I have met a few people online who have been sponsored. ------------------ "eagles may soar but weasils don't get sucked into jet engines..." http://users.hunterlink.net.au/~dfckm/weasil.htm |
I have a US Social Security Number card and on top of the little card, it reads " Not For Employment " so I guess you will need a Work Permit or a GreenCard.

Emailed an immigration lawyer yesterday and received his reply today. It turns out that I do still need a work permit in the States (shucks!) even though my SSnumber allows employment in the States. Oh, well.
