Going to a FSDO
 

Hello!

I need to visit a FSDO one of these days to renew a CFI Certificate. I heard rumors that (due to security precautions), one can not just walk in-- appointments are required. Anybody in the know?

Security reasons? Seems the height of conceit there somehow....thinking a FSDO is a prime target of opportunity for a suicide bomber? I am sure they follow the Security Plan right down to putting power poles in parking spaces near the building....but don't block so many they have to walk any distance from their parking spots! You have to go through metal detectors and all that....take your pants and shoes off to get in? I don't reckon a brief case and overcoat would be welcome either? Magic wand all over your tush to make sure you are not body packing sticks of dynamite?

The notice in bold print says....appointment required....then goes on to say...Non-US citizens must have an appointment. Usual redundant and unnecessary verbage. One would think if an appointment is necessary....an appointment is necessary.:p

Not so, it is completely impossible that anyone that is American could commit any crime. It can only be us dirty foreigners.


I used to fly with a Turk. He went to the US on a short stay visa, then overstayed for 3 years before marrying an American and getting his green card. He even looked like a stereotypical terrorist. However when we went through immigration together he would regularly get waved through because of his green card, while i would get the third degree. This would happen almost daily.

NZ....please to remember they are also doing Agriculture Checks as well as customs and immigration. Perhaps the reputation of Kiwi's and their alleged affection for wooly things is the reason you got stopped?;)
