Ryanair-FAA 737 rating good enough to get in ?
 

Guten Tag,

Anybody around here working for Ryanair ?
I've been checking their website every now and then, watching hiring criteria change continiously.

I myself have an FAA ATP and will have JAR CPL/IR frozen ATPL in a few days.
Any idea if an FAA 73 type rating would be any good in getting my foot into the door ? They don't specify on their site, if the rating has to be JAR or else.

Do they still require time on type or will just the rating with zero time do ?

Any ideas ? Anyone ?

FAA rating with no hours on type is the same as no rating... you would get zero credits for this....

Do you have the right to work and live in the EU??

To fly an Irish registered plane, I believe you need the rating to be on either an Irish or JAR licence. I think you need 500 hours on type to transfer the rating otherwise you would need to do JAR rating.

Again, Ryanair doesn't specify any time on type on the website, it just says:..."applicants that are 737 typed"

I also know that it's kinda iffy whether a non JAR rating can be transfered to a JAR license with zero time on type or not. But maybe it can.
What about having a JAR 737 rating, would that do me any good when applying ? I know, one also has the option to apply without a rating and then obtain one through one of their approved TRTO's. Would it be an advantage to obtain the rating first and then to apply ?

By the way, are you guys flying for Ryanair ?

You can only get the rating by applying through one of the TRTO's they will pull you through a normal selection process. This means that you are lucky if called upon as there are a lot of people out there applying. To go somewhere else for a general rating does not help you as you will have to redo it on their procedures..

It is not iffy to go FAA Typerating to JAA Typerating with 0 hours it's impossible....

Never pay for your own rating,especially to fly for an unscrupulous bunch like this.LCA's in Europe have an incredibly bad reputation,unlike the American counterparts.
If someone tells you they're there and like it,they're probably either Belgian or Dutch with 300 hours,or Serbian and happy to be just flying,or Irish and in with the in-crowd at the white house,or just plain liars.
And no the FAA ticket wont do you any good anyhow,despite being a far more demanding exam.The 4 hour oral you will sit for any FAA commercial type means you must know the systems inside out.There's no A,B or C for you to guess....

JAA or FAA is almost the same, but if you have no time on the type you'll have to do your training in a TRTO approved by Ryanair. You may be able to obtain a validation of your FAA licence but it's only valid for one year, for that you'll have to look into the Jar Fcl. The FAA oral may be more difficult but it's just a question of preparation.

Those >Serbian and happy to be just flying< are doing good job as TRI/TRE,Capts. and F/o for SQ,EK,Silkair,EVA,THAI,Lufthansa CL,Cargolux and even for Ryanair.So stick to the topic and leave your insults for someone else.Only reason for Serbians not taking positions in EU national airlines is that Serbia is not in EU..Still.So happy to be flying is a word for someone else and bevare thare are more and more of us everyware...

I know that Aussies and Kiwis are able to go to Boeing in Seattle, get a 737 type rating, and can tranfer this FAA rating (without hours on type) onto their AU or NZ licence. After all, those folks in Seattle/Renton build and designed this aircraft, so I guess they should also be able to teach you on how it works.

No such joy with the stuck up Europeans though ! Here the wheel has to be reinvented every time by the Eurocrats and the subsequent costs are passed on to the poor citizens... :{ :yuk:

Still there are "right to work and live" and "EU passport" as two different things I guess.I do not work in EU so I can't give a deffinite answer.Best, and thanks for not being rude...

Jealous of what old boy, a carrier registered under one of europes flags of convenience, maintaining a loophole that allows access to this airspace to SOME people with less than acceptable qualifications of origin. i.e from various authorities whose integrity is to say the least doubtful. no sour grapes, turned em down old chap.Just aware of the alternative routes possible to licensing in different parts of the world although paying lip service to icao .

or validating SOME dodgy licences in plain language.

otherwise if it floats yer boat ryan air is the place to be for sure.
