Very interesting! I've missed this thread bubbling away. If i could just throw in my experience. I applied to Air2000 a couple of months ago but got a standard letter back from the Cheif Pilot saying thanks but no thanks, and the requirements are.
1) >1500 Hours with preferably jet or turboprop experience. 2) An ATPL 3) MCC course or exemption. I was a little surprised as i have well over 2500 hours and 1000 on an EFIS multicrew turboprop, but only a frozen ATPL (we don't do much night flying at all at work). The only thing i could think of was that i don't have a full ATPL, which means Air2000 must be applying the requirements to the letter. A summer contract would be ideal for me as i have a business interest outside flying which would keep me more than occupied during the winter months, but obviously this wouldn't suit everyones circumstances. |

Fax or phone the CP and tell him that a part time contract is just what you want.
They probably assume that you are going to be a problem to get licenced quickly. However if you sell the idea that you will undercut your brethren to work for half pay then you may get in. May you reap your rewards in due course! |

Thanks for the advice, i will be calling him on Monday morning. Ella, Is the part time contract issue frowned upon by most of the Air 2000 crew at the moment? It's just i noticed in your earlier post that your opinion of the people taking part time contracts at reduced pay is fairly low. Like i said it would be perfect for me and i'm sure i cannot be alone in my situation. |

Impressive_Wingspan, you might find that detailing your experience inaccuratly goes against you, CP's do not like people trying to pull the wool over their eyes. You mention you have EFIS experience, well he (the CP) KNOWS the F406 is not an EFIS aircraft. You mention you have multi crew turbo prop experience, well he KNOWS the F406 is a single crew type.
See where I am coming from mate? Please catalog your experience honestly. I have been involved in recruitment in the past and there is nothing more frustrating than people 'touching up' their experience and qualifications. This is offered as guidance, I hope you take it as such... |

The company i work for have had the aircraft modified and they are two screen EFIS. We operate maritime surveillance patrols on behalf of the government and can be airborne for upto six hours and therefore operate two crew which has been approved by the CAA, even though it is a single crew aircraft. I'm well educated and not dull enough to hop on a public forum and start telling whoppers. I do agree that spicing up your experience is not on, but i'm not! If we don't have two pilots we don't fly, to me thats multi crew. |
Just to let people interested in the Air 2000 permanant part year contract know that i spoke to a nice young lady today who confirmed that they are looking to interview in January for these types of positions (not that i doubted your info Ella). The downside however (for me anyway) is that the current recruitment criteria are being applied to the letter. Shame they cannot bend just a little on that.
