GB Airways? What's it like?
Am pondering on the idea of sending off my cv to GB Airways. I just wondered if there is anyone who works for them who can tell me what it's like there - rostering, crew etc. I am a fairly junior F/O on the airbus. Cheers guys!:)

I work for them and I have to say they are excellent. It is pretty hard to fault them as employers. Their training is excellent, the pay is good (£37,600 pa plus benefits and allowances in first year) and they are very profitable. Their are very few nightstops (one or two per month) which may suit you or not. I am not involved in recruiting but I believe that they have just taken on about 25 new pilots who are being offered start dates up until March 2003 so there are probably not too many jobs at this exact instant. I am ex-RAF and have worked for several airlines previously and this is the best by far. Their are virtually no complaints from any of the pilots which is a mixed blessing as no one is likely to leave soon. The only uncertainty hanging over them is the issue of Scope within BA who wish to clip GB's wings and prevent further expansion as a franchise. There has been a possibility of the assimilation of the entire pilot workforce into BA but that appears to have died for the moment. Depending on your age, there are worse fates to befall you than becoming a BA pilot.
Anyway that is how I see it! Cheers NSF |
Also heard they are looking at recruiting low hour pilots in the very near future for the airbus. GB is a great airline to work in and is seriously worth a good look !
