EZY base move
Hi Guys,
I have recently been offered a job at EZY but have been told my base would be in Scotland. I originally asked for either Gatwick or Luton and am curious as to how long a base transfer would take and how it works (seniority, FCFS etc). Any information would be greatly appreciated! |
Been out for a while, but you shouldn't wait long for a move to either of those. Surprised u weren't honoured with either from the beginning, hardly sought after.

You’ll probably find there are Scottish based people been allocated LGW and people from Crawley allocated EDI. They simply don’t care. You’re a number and nothing more - remember that. I think you need to be on a permanent contract and have had six months in your current base before you can move but there will be a transfer list so you could be stuck miles from home for many years - all while they allow people new to the company to join direct to the base you want to transfer to…

That is why I was shocked when I was told about it.
I did ask if there was any reason or possibility for it to change before my start but was told its unlikely. |
That's amazing thank you, how often do transfer cycles happen?
I also heard that when you are based at smaller bases, such as Belfast or Glasgow, that you do your line training elsewhere such as Manchester or LGW. Is that common practice or just a rumour? |

You'll do your line training wherever there is capacity/trainers available on those days. Should you be doing out of base flying your travel and accommodation will be arranged.

Sorry I meant base training not line. I heard people from Belfast were recently sent to Manchester to do lots of it.

I’m in a very similar situation and want to move back to gatwick. Is it fair to say you’d be able to transfer within about 5-4 months of starting? With line training being about 2 months? Thanks!

That is a tad optimistic. They give by default 3 months of notice for transfers, and you can't apply until the end of the training. Keep also in mind that you have a windows of 2 weeks every three months at fixed date when you can apply. You could get lucky, but I would not bank on 4/5 months. Plus it depends on the time of joining, they are not likely to give you a transfer during summer.
Most of the transfers normally happen after October and up until March/April. |
