I do wonder if they are worse than the cadets for a certain large Irish carrier I have seen in the sim over the last several years.

Just occasionally on pprune a thread emerges and I realise why I have not deserted completely. In among the negative and the perpetually offended a gem of a post pops up, well written, highly amusing and an accurate description of expat pilot ops which I share but never quite at the grim level Contractorgrad writes about. As a pilot the Middle East will provide some dark comic moments if your sense of humour remains intact. My personal relationship with Yemenia was over 20 years ago where I conducted their proficiency checks at Gatwick. I was their nominated examiner on the 737-800 believe it or not, purely on a freelance basis so never actually visited Yemen. Nice bunch actually. Well done Contractorgrad, a great read.

Amazed at the amount of response to this thread. I found it nothing out of the ordinary. Just sounds like a description of my time spent in aviation from day one.

Just stumbled across this, definitely the most entertaining post I've seen on pprune. I was laughing out loud at several moments, a lot of humour there that only a pilot could really get, the kind of things I wish I could talk with my civilian friends!
Did you manage to try some of the much coveted Yemeni honey from waadi Do'aan? I was lucky enough to try it before, amazing stuff. For your next six month stint perhaps :D
