Can anyone give me an idea of the expected average monthly take home pay for a senior first officer Wizz UK after the A320 bond repayments? How much is the monthly bond and is it taken before or after tax? Thanks.

_Ale_ 29th March 2025 22:07

does anyone know if wizz europe is still recruiting low hours cadets ? how long should i expect all the selection process to take ?

Passport requirements

Good Afternoon guys

My daughter is interested in the Wizz Air pilot cadet scheme.
Do you need a European passport for this, or will a British passport suffice.

Many Thanx

GlideslopeVal 23rd April 2025 15:23

To the best of my knowledge, the Wizz Air cadet pilot scheme has not been extended to the UK yet, so a European passport would be needed, with the expectation of a job offer in Europe. That saind, Leading Edge and, I think, Skyborne, run ab-inito courses where suitable trainee pilots are tagged by Wizz Air for a likely job offer after training.

GlideslopeVal 23rd April 2025 15:26

Was talking to a Wizz FO very recently. He has mates in easy who ask him when he is going to join them. The answer was that the pay is better at Wizz Air, so he's not going to. Apparently you have to look at sector pay which, at Wizz Air, you get as soon as you finish training, when you don't with all airlines. Sorry I can't give more detail.

GlideslopeVal 23rd April 2025 15:28

You can apply for a fixed roster once you finish line training. Until then you'll be on a random roster. But three times a year you get the chance to move to a fixed roster, 5 on, 4 off.

And what's the likelihood of actually getting that roster when you apply?

enzino 13th May 2025 05:44

You just get it.

Just keep in mind that day 1 of the 4 days off is actually a rest day, i.e. you could be landing at 2 a.m. and it'd still count as a day off. More often than not that's what I get - very late finish on day 5 and very early start on day 1. Technically speaking you do get 2 full days off. On day 4 you'll go to sleep at 7 p.m. ready for your 2.30 a.m. wake-up call. I'm not saying it doesn't work, just be prepared, that's it.

Depends on the base I guess... I request a single type of duties and get my preference 90% of the time

CaptainPilot2024 15th May 2025 12:31

Hello everyone,

I have an EASA license and am applying to wizzair for non-type rated FO.

I need to choose between Malta and Hungary.
Any advice?

Thanks

Captain salary

Did Wizz Air increase captain salaries recently? Does Wizz Air consider previous experience as a captain for salary steps? If I have 3000 PIC hours, do I get the lowest basic salary?

Do you know if they still offer extra money for SKP if you survive there for 3 years?

enzino 31st May 2025 10:57

You start at the bottom. Some bases have a retention bonus.

Nope, they did not.
Plain and simple.
Same stuff, lowest wages in EU for a LCC.

Yes, they did, but not in every country.
Nope.
Yes.
No idea.

In Italy? Might be, but AFAIK Volotea pays less.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any recent information or experience with the Wizz Air Abu Dhabi Direct Entry Program or the Fast Track to Command option?

I’m currently a First Officer with over 6,000 hours on the A320

thanks !

enzino 2nd June 2025 09:10

They have over 30-35 First Officers waiting to upgrade. There's nothing fast happening down there.

TBSC 5th June 2025 11:40

Bit of a change of their fleet expansion plan announced today with the FY24 results:
"...the fleet is now forecast to grow from 231 aircraft as at the end of March 2025 to 305 aircraft as at end March 2028; this compares to the previous forecast of 380 aircraft at that end date."

Is that in UK or EU?

JAFF21 5th June 2025 17:08

Are there real upgrade opportunities for experienced First Officers within the company?

If anyone has gone through this process or has any recommendations or advice
Thanks !!

enzino 6th June 2025 15:10

Yes, they also hire suitable experienced First Officers onto their upgrade program. Also non-type rated. The training for this program is long.

Do you really think this is anything to do with airline or flight crew?

Either they don't have a ground operations manual or they don't care if the handlers are adhering to it.
The former is the fault of the airline while the latter is the fault of the crew.

If you really work in aviation and thinking like this I am surprised. And, Yes crews wait and check always until all loading finished.

Finished? It happened during disembarkation/offloading. If you really work in aviation your company must have a procedure how to disembark passengers when both doors are used. That would have prevented it whichever way the skilled handlers were offloading the baggage. I bet it was not caused only by the baggage in the aft hold but by a handful of passengers moving towards/waiting for the aft door as well.

Wizz is closing Abu Dhabi base in September.

And whole AOC with it. Looks like 12 A321’s are coming back to Europe

Jacare_Pilot 14th July 2025 18:01

What happens to the pilots based in Abu Dhabi? I'm assuming it's the curb for the ones that do not have an EASA License and European Citizenship?

Very simple.
They’ll have to look somewhere else.
Sad but true.
Luckily enough, the region offer now opportunities for qualified people.

peterkranw 2nd August 2025 11:36

Does anyone have a roster for pilots?

I really want to become a pilot, but it's not possible right now due to health issues, so I'm currently simulating flights with maximum realism in Vatsim. Does anyone have a real Wizz Air pilot schedule that I can use to improve my simulation?

Brix 2nd August 2025 12:47

Are they still putting a poor guy at the nose gear with headset on until fueling is finished?

Never saw this practice somewhere else. At least it provides for short briefings on the next sector :hmm:.

enzino 2nd August 2025 16:41

easyJet and Ryanair do the same. What's your point?

Indeed, a stupid pointless procedure invented by an certain loco which takes a pilot out of the cockpit. The fueler is monitoring fuelling anyway and has a shut off button!

You want to simulate being tired and miserable?

I understand this refuelling thing is only at certain airports. So not all the time.

if it’s at certain airports it’s an airport thing, not an airline thing then. Ryanair do do it routinely. It’s all to do with refuelling whilst passengers are on board. Some airports forbid it, some want the fire service in attendance, the essence is there needs to be a line of communication between fueler and flight deck in case of an emergency in every airline’s SOPs approved by the country of registration’s authority. Various airlines have different methods of compliance.
