No second chance at easyJet - the door slams shut.
The following is doing the rounds from the Orange Order:-
>>Hi Guys, I am writing to confirm that we have reached a decision concerning our recruitment reassessment policy. The following has been decided and agreed by the management and the pilot recruitment team: We have decided that we will not reassess candidates who have failed any part of our 48 hour recruitment process. After much discussion we came to the decision that we have faith in the assessment process and therefore there should be no need to reassess. Furthermore we want people to feel proud that they have been successful at our assessment process and giving people a second chance at the process devalues it. Regarding candidates who have turned us down in the past, it has been decided that they will not be reassessed. We do not want to encourage people to see easyJet as an "open option" for the future or a "contingency plan" if all else fails. We want people who are committed to working for easyJet and see us as a viable option from the outset. I'm sorry its not better news but thank you for your time and for the interest which you showed in easyJet. Regards, Laure Van Rensburg Flight Operations Recruitment Co-ordinator<< The arrogance of this is breathtaking. I was offered a position a while ago but had to turn them down for family reasons. I liked the company but wasn't going to re-apply. The receipt of such unsolicited mail is not pleasant. Why cannot they just reject those they don't want to employ? Far more discreet and mature. I can only assume that the merger with Go has created a surplus of pilots. It would, nonetheless, behove this company to conduct themselves with a bit more tact and savvy with regard to future pilot markets. Make friends with pilots because pride comes before a fall. |
Sorry Gruntle, but I cannot agree. I don't think it is arrogant at all, just a polite letter, telling you, a successful applicant who has turned down their offer, that there is no point in you applying again. I would guess that a number of people in a similar position to yourself have actually gone back and said they would now like to accept.
Better, I would have thought, to know exactly where you stand instead of not getting any response at all? |
Some of our troops had this email and it caused some annoyance. Not everyone can take a job when offered. 'Sorry, like to work for you but the Memsahib won't wear a move to Scotland on an open ticket.'
What I can't figure out is why they have written some highly qualified pilots out of possible expansion plans. But then, I am just paid to make decisions in the cockpit. |

Amex, were they easy or Go crew?

Jl & eJ
I passed the easyJet selection in June of 2001. At the same time I was selected for a position elswhere on the B747 which was my current type anyway. I went with the B747 position; notified eJ in good time, and was told by JL that it was no problem. Later, my B747 company went down the tubes. I called JL at eJ to see if they would still accept me. The answer was, and still is "I'm looking int it." I've called back a few times, only to be given the mushroom treatment by JL.
Conclusion: I'm not bothered working for that sort of arrogance anyway. |

I can well believe the arrogance of this letter.
I had the assessment day last December. I was recommended to them. I had never applied. I got called less then 24 hours before the day to attend. I travelled 200 miles ther and 200 miles back. I passed their pointless tests and then was torn apart by the most arroagnt **** I have ever met in an interview:mad: He was soooo rude. He was up his own arse and and just rubbished my company in front of me. I told him I was not interested, as a Scottish base was not what I wanted, so therefore etc etc.... Plus I told him it would take a lot of free BBQ's to make up a decent pension. Face it: the package is not that great. Good luck if you like that kind of thing, however it was not for me and I would not be looking to reapply. So for a secretary to semd out a letter like that is a p?ss take of the highest order. Get a smaller ego easyJet. |

From what I hear they'll need to recruit loads of guys just to stand still ! Rumour is that Parc have no shortage of Orange CV's!   |
So what would happen to pilots who were bounced by EJ and have made successful careers for themselves at Go?
|
It is all a case of supply and demand - when supply is less than demand then you will see quite the opposite from Easyjet (or most other airlines come to that).
Nothing wrong with the point of their e-mail - just a little bit arrogant and foolish if they plan to be a long term airline. |
Boyakasha....
Stelios bless his sole religiously took the **** out of arrogant BA but sounds like the modern fleet modern thinking has been hijacked or simply proven very false. |
Now if you want a really good laugh have a read of the recent bullsh!te ‘merger’ update letter that's being put to the staff (of both companies) about the buyout of Go by Easy.
Indeed I saw a copy of it yesterday, and talk about BS and fluff – somebody quite obviously thinks that they’re addressing naive children, who are gonna swallow it hook, line, and sphincter ! <-- not a typo …… t’was nothing more than ”rah rah rah we’re still one team, rah rah rah, go easy go, rah rah rah …….. “ Indeed a more serious issue, which is lightly glossed over, includes, and get this, all ( yes ALL ) the office based staff of both companies are apparently having to re-apply for their jobs, the point being that if you've been quite happily doing your job at eJ but a 'better qualified' person from Go is available you will be made redundant from eJ - nice huh ?! With regards to the pre/post sale share issues to the Go staff, due to the way that this is being allocated it cannot now be readily offset against tax so many of the Go staff will lose a large amount of the yield on those shares to HM Revenue, i.e. it’s rather a shame the shares were not granted to them when Go was worth stuff-all so that any tax could have then been paid on the value of any shares as linked to a company that wasn’t worth anything – whereas now ?! ;) And all this comes from two companies that supposedly pride themselves on their 'people skills' though it would seem that theirs ‘caring’ is only surpassed by the BS that emanates from the Ryans in as much that, using the Go parlance of, being ‘Open & Honest’ one feels very inclined to say “*******!” Please note that, I couldn't give a toss about any of the low cost operators, except to say that we're looking to pick-up a few of the very best of both companies disgruntled flight crew - many of whom have already been to visit us ! :D |
wondered how long it would take this debate to reach pprune. I fall into the catagory of been there, did it, passed it, ditched it...on recommendation of several friends WITHIN Easy. I was drawn to them by their spin thinking there was something different on offer. I think this is correct in many respects until it comes to Flight OPs. A quote from within.."they couldn't run a bath". It's beginning to show. They display the dinosaur traits all too common in this industry and their arrogance defies belief. They got big problems at the moment..just ask the troops. Punctuality is poor, sickness through the roof, morale low, major rostering problems...seems to have got much worse since they announced the Go merger.
As for their recruitment, perhaps JL would like to come back down to this planet. She obviously got lost trying to find Cranebank and ended up in Luton instead. Or perhaps it's her inability to spell that foiled her plans for world domination. You'll know this if you ever get an e-mail from her. Whoever penned this latest diatribe of nonsense clearly has no comprehension of this industry. Easyjet have nothing more to offer than any other sub 200 seat carrier in the UK. Perhaps when the pension doubles or becomes final salary, the rosters stabilise and Flt OPs retires to Jurassic Park then they will have something to talk about. Until then lets face it - soon they'll be short of crew and by then there'll be nobody left who hasn't failed their selection or knocked them back once before. :D |

A bit of a Laser- Guided Post. Not very subtle but pretty accurate.:D :D :D |
Sounds like somebody's been workin overtime in the Orange Ministry of Silly Rules. I know 2 guys who work for EZY who declined their offer in the past and are now on the payrole. In fact one of them started recently!
They also can't seriously expect us to believe that the multitude of Sabena/Virgin guys they've taken would have darkened the orange door had they still the opportunity to truck across the pond in a widebody. This has all the hallmarks of schoolyard politics to me. Someone has pissed them off, so they've decided to take it out on everyone!  |
Jesus!
There are some enormous bunches of sour grapes floating around on this forum. Easy is not perfect - show me any airline that is! We have some Rostering problems - show me any airline that doesn't (or hasn't!) we have some problems in flight operations - they are nothing unusual, neither are they unique to easyjet. We have some disgruntled crews - nothing unique there either! we have some disputes/differences of opinion between management and crews - hardly unbelievable in this day and age! we have many very happy and satisfied crews - but that is not very newsworthy is it? we have a fine, ever growing, modern fleet of aircraft - hardly worth a mention is it? we're making a profit - trivia!! we have a first-class training department. We have an excellent safety record - who cares? We are expanding rapidly and maintaining steady success in the process - speaks for itself really. I have been, and indeed am, from time to time, critical of certain things within easyjet. I can honestly say that is true of every company I have worked for in the last 24 years. nothing that I have heard at, or about, easyjet in the last couple of years has been significantly different from anything said about any other company. Overall, however, it is crystal clear to me that easyjet's success has been the built on solid foundations and, despite some of these niggling problems that everyone is so quick to highlight, the future looks very good indeed. If that means that we are now, or will soon be, in the enviable position to be able to pick and choose the very best candidates for positions within the company, whether the ground based or flight crew, then so be it. One thing does really confuse me over some of the previous posts within this thread - if the package is really not that good, and their pension is crap, and the work ethic and management is so poor etc etc...........why on earth did you apply for the job in the first place? As for trucking across the pond in a wide-body - rather you than me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I strongly recommend you change your user name to OSTRICH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've emailed you privately! Edited because I see you don't take emails, keep those fingers in your ears and your eyes shut tight!!!! |

My eyes are wide open and there is absolutely nothing wrong with my hearing. There has been nothing said about easyjet that I have not already heard about many other airlines around the world from friends and former colleagues - and indeed from my own personal experience. As I said, all is not perfect and probably never will be but, to suggest that the problems easyjet currently faces are totally unique is phenomenally naive. If you truly believe that easyjet is so bad and that any current problems have no solution, then I suggest YOU change your user name to ostrich, locate the door marked EXIT ,............................and use it!!! |
who said things were any better elsewhere? I thought the point that was being raised was that EZY are a bit to far up themselves at the moment. When you **** lots of people off, they bite back. Human nature.:D
