United increasing hiring projections
Briefing this morning from manpower planning in Chicago indicates previously planned in slow down in hiring for rest of this year has been cancelled.
Numbers are impressive for next three years - including four digit hiring for 2018 |
OA,
That's certainly welcome news for many people. Will the training pipeline be able to handle increased input without leaving people treading water in a "hired pool" for so long they go elsewhere ? In recent times, Delta made people wait for almost a year from job offer to butt in seat in Hapeville. They've corrected that AFAIK. Is UAL planning any open recruiting events like Delta's recently-announced "pilot career expo" in ATL...or whatever they're calling it ? Rumor mill says this will be a quarterly event. I think I remember UAL doing something for regional pilots but the details escape me...or perhaps I'm just not remembering correctly. Any info you can add to flesh out UAL's hiring posture would help a lot of people. |
They've just been given the green light to add eight more simulators to a new wing at the Denver Training center. That's pretty big capital expenditure for sure.

The training center in Denver has 30 sim bays I think and they are building a whole new wing to house 8 more. It's going to be rocking and rolling in the school house. |
g-code,
Thanks for the info. Great news!! A new wing to the Steep Turn Academy will take time to build. Would you happen to know what percentage of those interviewed by UAL are getting job offers as a result ? That metric really tells applicants what they're up against in real world terms. |

The interview itself is pretty laid back. They want to hire you! For the HR portion it's a HR rep and a pilot. They will put you at ease, give you a bottle of water, and tell you to take you blazer off if you like. They just want to see how you think and make sure they can stand being in a cockpit with you for four days at a time. I also wouldn't go into the interview without interview prep. Cage Marshall or Emerald Coast are probably the top two who offer it. As for the construction, it's going full bore as we speak. Until all the new sims get moved up there I have heard some 737 guys are being sent to Miami and Dallas for sims. |
"It's been a while since I have heard numbers but it's in the 70% range. The BIGGEST piece of advice I can offer is make sure everything on your application is totally correct now because they "snapshot" it when they pull it and don't take kindly to too many edits or suprises the day of the interview."
g-code, 70% jives with the hard data I've got from another legacy interview process. The process you people go through today might as well be on another planet in another solar system in another universe from my experience long ago. You have my sympathy. :-))) Thanks for the info. |
