Air Pacific
Hi all,
I have been offered an interview this week with air Pacific , does anyone know if this is a skype interview as I am based in the UK I do not know how I will get to Fiji at such short notice any idea of what to expect and also pay etc over there...?She asked e in the e-mail where I was based hopefully she will not be put off by the fact that I am in UK All help appreciated. |
Air Pacific
Will be skype interview. They can send you few notes about interview from previous candidates. Don't expect the feedback soon, did mine 3 months ago and still nothing.
Good luck. |
According to three friends who are there, Air Pac is slowing down their hiring. There was a fourth friend who interviewed in June, and is still waiting to hear about a class date.
That said, don't give up your present position just yet. |
So Air Pac can offer you a position solely on a skype interview...? no need for a sim etc , I have sent them lette4rs of reccomendation and also said I can send my latest LPC/OPC comments and line check which are all good reports , I heard that they need allot of pilots for the 737 as so many have left and allot of the locals are going to the 330 when it arrives , any idea of pay roster etc and do they look after accomadation , I would love to go and work in the pacific region , also I am not currently flying.
|
Skype interview, followed by aptitude test via computer. Then the decision is made. A330 is delayed for a bit, and as related to me by my three friends, they are not as short on the boeing chaps as they were in the beginning of the year. A bunch of guys sodded off to Air New Guinea for better money and terms.
|
tnaks for the info JNS , do you know what to expect for the skype interview IE any 737 tech questions etc etc , hate those online aptitude assesments , so I should expect to wait quite a while if successfull for a course date.....??? , you say some have moved to Air New Guinea , is the pay not great with Air Pac...?
|
I don't recall the exact amount of pay. However pilots a paid a daily rate when they work. The pilot is responsible for income taxes. That said the daily pay is gross. Pilots are responsible for their own travel expenses to Air Pacific Gateway cities too. It works well for retired airline employees with travel benefits.
|
Is this the job for F/os only? Would love to work in that part of the world.
|
Sent 2 times my application but never been contacted.
I think it's because of my 737 experience is on Classic only (but more than 4000 hours!) |
Can anyone who has done the skype interview and online tests tell me hoiw long they were waiting to hear word after the online tests were completed.
|
Results know within a couple of days. BUT, you will have to get used to 'Pacific Time' if you are seriously considering Air Pac. As with everything over there, they may know the results but wouldn't think to call you to let you know. It will come up in some other conversation when they happen to mention "oh yes, you passed the aptitude test", weeks later while you've been nervously awaiting some news. It's just how they are, and if you can get used to the "tribal knowledge" way of having to find out everything yourself, you'll fit right in!
|
Hi,
what are the skype interview and the computer test about? I am talking about ATR fleet. Thanks |
ATR is a different operation , pacific blue I think skype interview is fine just questiobns about yourself what kind of flying etc any accidents criminal records..... online tests are reading comprehensions and a few maths tests some memory tests and a personality test you cannot prepare for it apart from practicing the maths test examples they send you.

Can someone from air pac please PM me.
|
Hello,
Could someone please confirm if this is the correct e-mail address for applying for the Fiji gig: [email protected] tried it a couple of times during the last 6 months but no reply at all (B737 NG Captain with 7500 hours on type) |
I applied via that e-mail address and I was e-mailed about an interview which I have completed and the tests waiting on a yes or a no now.I did wait about 6-8 months though.
|
Hi Boeing Europe,
Thx for the info Are You applying for Captain or FO ? |
I applied for FO.
|
Recieved Job offer this morning Delighted. The search is finally over :ok:
|
Well done. Enjoy Fiji!
|
boeing europe - did you have US or Oz citzenship?
|
Boeing europe.
Congrats. You will love it in the pacific region ;) |
No I dont which is funny because , when they advertised this position through the agencies they required the right of abode in US or OZ , they have not given me any details about obtaining a visa or visa sponsorship etc.
|
Heard a rumour that some guys who were successfull back in June are still waiting on a course date and that they (air pac) are known to make people wait a long time for the course to start anyone know of any truth in this,.....?
|
air pac
Well I did the skype thing back in July and have heard nothing since.
Good luck with the start date |
Do you know guys if they hire F/O with lot of hours on 737 Classic but no experience on NG?
|
I am not sure if they take on guys with CL experience @breakthesilence you are the second person who I have heard of doing the skype interview on July and not hearing a single thing back from them......? I do not know how this is going to work out with all the immigration and work Visa requirements , I just have my fingers crossed.
|
Don't worry about the work visa. You'll be on a 14 - 21 day cycle, leaving the country regularly, so no work visa to organise or worry about. You will need to have the right of abode in Aus, NZ or US though.
|
@ozdork , this is the problem I am Irish , so I do not have right of abode as an irish citizen I come enter and exir the US as much as I want , I can however aply for a Australian 1 year holiday working visa.....
|
It is very very hard to manage to track down an Air Pac pilot to get some info.
|
Visa
I worked for Airpac in 2004/5 on the 73 and at that time it was a requirement to have residency in Oz, NZ or the US. I believe that is still the case. They would only commute you on their own network so the main "gateways" were Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland, Honolulu and LAX. I commuted out of Sydney. There was a Canadian guy there at the time who was living under the radar, so to speak, in Honolulu. There was no requirement to have a Visa for Fiji as there was some sort of agreement with immigration that expat crew would spend a maximum of 14 days in Fiji at any one time. I would definitely get a definitive answer on all of this before you commit. Another small point to consider is that the salary was paid in NZ dollars so check out the exchange rate. Of course this was a long time ago however with Fiji time I very much doubt if much has changed. Bula!
|
Maggot thanks allot for your post I really appreciate it , During the skype interview they said something about obtaining a crew visa which would allow me to enter on of their mentioned gateways every 14 days for a max of 72 hours thus permitting me to re enter Fiji or something like that , I am getting a bit worried about the whole visa situation as I have really set my heart on this , I just keep telling myself they know where you are from and they would not offer you the job without checking all my documents etc and by doing that they know I do not have US oz or NZ residency but I can easily obtain an AUS visa.
|
When I worked there in 2008-2009 your Passport was stamped with a 14 Day Only Entry. Simply doing an OZ overnight would reset your clock. However that procedure may have changed.
I had heard that they were doing Skype Interviews versus actually flying you to Nandi to interview. I do know that a friend of mine who had flown there with me and then left, just got rehired in time to be there for the Cyclone that just passed through Fiji. If hired, you have to get a Fijian License and appropriate Type Rating. That was done at their expense in the past. Not sure about now. All in all, it was a fun place to work. Kind of hard to complain when you are living on an island in the South Pacific. |
A few of my friends are working for Air Pac. They enjoy it. This is their first year. They don't know how they will deal with the tax situation however. One needs advice from an accountant to avoid those tricky situations with the tax man.
|
@JNS , is there any chance you might be able to ask your friends who work there if I can e-mail them with a couple of questions as I am still a bit in the dark , you can Pm me if you wish.

Air Pac
Hi guys,
Does anyone know if recruitment is still happening? I've heard there is supposed to be a few courses soon, one starting the first week of feb (02/04) and another later on. Still interested in applying so would appreciate any info. Thanks a lot! |
I know they are recruiting for the A330, and their website still shows vacancies, so I'm assuming yes.:ok:

If you join Air Pacific you'll be banned from the Truck(RIP)
Accept this status as Social Pariahs at your peril. |
The Truck was an infamous bar in Narita, housed in an old lorry trailer on the side of the road. There was a sign on the door that went along the lines of "Air Pacific you are all banned, please don't cause any more trouble by trying to come in"
I was never unlucky enough to see why they were banned, whether a couple beers and bad karaoke set off the supposed 'warrior' spirit in them, or was is it their love of Neil Diamond which meant they didn't want to share the microphone. Anyway like most of the nightlife in Narita, it is becoming a fond but distant memory, but I like to think that should the Phoenix ever rise again Air Pacific will still be banned, just for old times sake. |
Does anybody know how much you earn as CPT? I believe they pay you in a daily NZD rate? How many OFF days in a row are possible? How many vacation / unpaid leave days available?
Cheers |
