Take Home Pay, part time BA?
Hi I am trying to consider whether BA is right for me and my family.. I have an assessment coming up and I was wondering what part time workers take home after tax.
My ideal eventual situation may be long haul with one week off a month. The reason being to see as much of my little one as possible in her younger years.. I understand you can get 72%(?) rosters. I was wondering if you took home a bit more than 72% given that you have less upper income taxeable? Regards V- 5 |
Can't give exact figures but you're right in that you reduce your exposure to the higher tax bands simply because you're earning less.

With a young child you will qualify for 'Right to Request Part Time Working' (RTR PTWK) This is also known as 75% I believe (50% or even 25% is also available!), and does indeed give you the same week off every single month. Completely different in very many ways to Aspirational Part Time Working (APTWK) which is what is being described above. RTR PTWK seems to be very desirable amongst those in the know, and could well be perfect for you? Two points however. I believe you would be committed to a minimum initial period (6 months?) of full time. Perhaps even signing a full time contract??? Once your application for PTWK is accepted, it is a permanent change to your contract, and I doubt it would be possible to return to full time working?? |

Must admit I'd forgotten all about the RTR option (another TLA!!).
For the OP the Aspirational contracts are either full month on, then month off with one recency trip (58%), or two on one off with a recency trip (72%) - those contracts are certainly being investigated/taken up by some of the higher end tax payers, hence my comment. Once your application for PTWK is accepted, it is a permanent change to your contract, and I doubt it would be possible to return to full time working?? |
Our company, not BA, currently has a fixed 1 week off, 3 week on part time which is deemed 75%.
All those on it love it. Me included:ok: |
Can a right to request worker demand to return to full time working once dependant child has left home? |
Dragon has month on/ month off with a month
