Ryanair Brookfield Salary
 

I know there are a few posts mentioning Ryanair salary, and there are many mentions of summer and winter hours etc but I was looking for something clear as to what a new starter can expect to earn in year 1 (including training period but not including TR cost) and year 2.

As it seems new starts are all BRK contractors who would need to file end of year accounts on their Ryanair income, would anyone mind disclosing their gross and net income for year1 and year 2?

Big base:

Year 1 785 hrs
Year 2 775 hrs

Three calendar months off in that time. Average 75 hrs per working month. Busiest months close to 100 hrs, quietest 60 hrs.

You do the maths!

700 hrs/year gives 49,350 Euro gross after sim.

X by 97% to give you after accountants deduction : 47,869.5 gross.

= 34,944.74 euro after tax, massively dependant on your expenses.

3,494.47 per month for 10 months and nothing for the other 2.

PS im from a UK base and did 625 hours year 1, probably 650 year 2. So do the maths for that and you will see the difference between living abroad and in the uk.

With regard to bases, is there any method in where you are based, i.e. do they try to base UK pilots in the UK or is it just wherever you are needed?

i got initially a great base abroad... Portugal for first 6 months, which happened to be the summer.... lovely.

Then after 6 months got transferred to my preferred base here in UK.

Also, im a contractor.

It's also worth considering that it's not technically a salary...

Break your leg, take time off to care for sick relatives or even to attend a close ones funeral and you get nothing.

Declan we both know that is a complete crock!

Firstly anyone rebasing to UK or anywhere is subject to a diminished pay scale.
Secondly nobody gets a rebase that they request that soon

David, you have previosly posted your start date a Ryanair, October 2010. If we take 8 weeks for type rating and ancillary courses that means you started line training in December, 6 months later you had your prefered base.
I had no idea the Potugese summer was during the rest of the Northen Hemisphere's winter!

On a side note, Ryanair pay you £41,700 gross for 700 hours a year.
Jet2 give you more and are recruiting, so much for Ryanairs high pay claims...:E

seeing as someone has taken the time to delve into my career history...

il iron out a few creases...

October 2011 Started RYR.

Type rating ended December, pre X-mas, so with X-mas break and extra bits and pieces (observation sectors, base training etc) ended up starting line training [UK Base, thanks :)] in late January 2011.

....Xmas break was quite nice to have a couple of weeks off between Sim and Line Training....

anyways, Finished Line Training in April 2011, and was kept there til May 1st.

May - September in first On-Line base in Portugal, very nice base, really good fun, great expereicne, and fantastic crew!

Anyways.... i'd requested a UK base during line training, and i get a call, offering me it starting November 2011.

So.... in give-or-take One year in the company, im where i want to be, and really looking forward to getting on with it! :)

Also... i'd Consider May-Nov to include, the best part of summer in the Hemisphere that RYR operate in....

....loving this job, racking up the hours, enjoying each days challenges and still nothing can take a smile off my face when im making a sweet touch down in a 60tonne jet :)

....of course i'd give it all up to be Assistant to the General Manager at Wernham Hogg :D loools

Well, I'm glad at least some people get to go where they want.

I however, have had 4 bases in 2 and a half years! None of which I wanted to go to, and on one occasion, after having finally set up some form of normal life at my 'permanent' base' I was informed that I was no longer required there and that in one months time my base will be XYZ.

I don't want anybody thinking It's all happy and nice and permanent if you get the base you want. As being on BRK means that in 30 days time you could be based in the arse end of nowhere and there is nothing you can do about it!

Don't you need to pay any tax until you payed of the Type Rating?

Anyone seriously thinking of joining Ryanair should do their homework on www.repaweb.org and perhaps doing a Google search of "Paul Ridgard" could provide some insight on what to expect...

Soft landings? I thought you guys said that boeing wants you to land firmly when you plow the tractor into the runway :E

Anyway, the pay does seem on the low side in comparison to the continental easy bases, but there may be more to the story as you guys have so many contracts in Ryanair. Do captains get a basic salary nowadays and what is the block hour payment for skippers?
