Agency workers get greater work rights
Does this change in regulation have any impact on the way Ryanair & Easyjet operate with regards to Brookfield and Flexi crew or have they already found ways around it???
BBC News - Agency workers get greater work rights from 1 October |
For example, from the first day of employment, they can use a creche, canteen or transport services. They will also be entitled to information about internal vacancies at the company they are working for, and to be given the opportunity to apply for them. After 12 weeks in the same role with the same employer, agency workers will be entitled to the same employment and working conditions as permanent staff. These include pay, overtime, shift allowances, holiday pay and bonuses attributable to individual performance, as well as maternity rights. However, agency workers will not be entitled to all the same benefits, such as occupational sick pay, redundancy pay and health insurance. Pay? Well from what I've heard the pay isn't that much different, shift allowances - FRV at easy is optional through the summer for some guys anyway so the shift patterns aren't that different. The only things I can see that would affect flexicrew at eJ would be the sick pay, redundancy and health insurance. Oh wait, they're not to be included anyway...:ouch: |
How about the fact that flexicrew are only paid c £1200/month for the first 8 months of working?
Presumably after 12 weeks they will now have to be paid the same as a permanent two stripe FO. No idea how much that is mind you. |
Good point, I'm sure that'll be got around by saying they're not agency workers and they're completing some kind of apprenticeship.
