Astounding Recruitment expectations
I am constantly amazed by some of the ads on the web for flying crew required , often for VERY short contracts , and at very short notice .
Todays though takes the biscuit / Oscar / whatever - what are these people on ? Apply for the IMMEDIATE Embraer Legacy Captain or First Officer job posted by ZENON | AviationJobSearch.com Please , I stand to be corrected , so I would love to hear if anybody is actually available for this contract , perhaps I am living in cloud - cuckooland ? |
Why would the applicant be required to hold a JAA ATPL (H)?
 |
in defence of zenon, they are a fair bunch of people who have most likely had a call from an operator with a requirement of 'we need x for y' and are reaching out to see if anyone is out there that is available that could do it.
the people over at zenon are not creating the demand there and in today's business saying to a prospective 'nah sorry can't help you try somewhere else' isn't going to work as a long term business strategy. You have to look behind it and consider why an operator needs a crew for such a short period of time? crew reductions and looking to pick up shortfalls with contractors ? why are they doing that ? in today's environment perhaps the operator cant afford to have crews sitting around with no work to fly? then you have ask why is that ? or is that what you were driving at ? |
Absolutely not having a go at Zenon , its the operators that floor me.

Sounds like either a delivery flight or a repro....... :):)

The ad may have been composed in a hurry by one young office secretary who was late for her hairdressing appointment.

I get the impression that quite often these adverts (from companies and recruitment agencies) seem to be "testing the water" as to just who is presently available? With no actual genuine job.

If I was Zenon and wished to keep a good name in the market, I'd politely suggest to the operator that I would not be able to help. The effort required for a two day contract is the same as required for a long term contract. And if an operator has the requirement for two days, I'd suggest that the chance of anybody being paid is quite remote. To be "fresh out of pilots" tomorrow means that they have no way of calling in favours - which has to mean shysters!

Like Kokatia
I am permanently astounded by some of these adverts. Especially the ones that say Captain or F/O URGENTLY required for great contract on xxxx type. I alway mutter to myself "bet it's not urgent enough to pay top or even medium dollar. Not been wrong so far. |
