Hi FR

Salery for F/O is around £42K (if you can get a 100% contract) plus another 3-4K in allowances. SFO gets around £45K after 3 years with company. There are no increments so thats it until you get a command.

Heard a rumour this week that the next new base could be Birmingham (only gossip so don't get excited) If this is true some of the EMA guys might move there and open up some slots.

Regards

FasterStronger,

About 650. 500 April-end Oct and 150 Nov-end Mar. Depends on base and fleet but I would be surprised if many F/Os get much more.

It depends on base, rank etc. I have always done just about 900 a year. Some years been stood down because I ran out of hours. Not too sure about first officers though, but I would be surprised if anyone did less than 700.
Summer much busier than winter, but I've never done less than about 40 hours in a month, even when things were very quiet. There are almost two months a year leave, so there is only ten months to do the flying in.

FasterStronger,

scratchingthesky seems a bit passive/agressive. As you will know from reading the thread different people are getting very different deals. If you have a relevant TR costs will be minimal. I believe in your case there is a small training bond of a couple of K which only matters if you leave. Although i'm willing to be corrected.

Regards

For type rated bods they expect you to sign up to a 4500K bond to cover their conversion costs! And they don't give you a breakdown of how they come to that figure! Another example of airlines taking the P***.
If they want rated people that much they should cover those costs themselves.

This industry has gone mad! :ugh:

It's only gone mad because people are prepared to pay it, if we told them to PFO then it would soon disappear.

Hi Guys!

I am hoping to join Jet2 for the 2012 summer contract through the agency they work with but am aware that nothing is ever definite...

Does anyone know if Finnair/Monarch/Air Finland or any others recruiting 757 F/Os?

Jet2 want to pay £3317 p/m but I think thats a bit low... I have around 150 hours on 757 which I know is not a lot but am hoping that that might be enough for other airlines?!?!? I have around 450 hrs on the 737 but am no longer current which is why I want to stay with the 757 for now.

If anyone has any info or any ideas at all please let me know!!

For the non-typed FO online application when you click do you receive any email or anything to say it has been received ?

I've had the online profile for a year now and clicked the submit button every couple of months and yet to receive any notification of it being received or my profile page changing.

Cheers

Why not call them, speak to HR and ask if they can see your application on their records?

aviator_ 1st August 2011 17:39

Cheers for the reply .. wanted to see if anyone had any answers here first as I know most airlines dont like people calling into them. But ill give them a bell soon so

Does anyone know the number for HR regarding pilot recruitment?

San Expiry 2nd August 2011 10:48

I've made a few amendments to my application over the past few months and hit 'submit' each time. I'm assuming it has registered but there have been no email acknowledgements.

Landflap 3rd August 2011 08:49

San Expiry, bloody awful isn't it. These companies simply cannot handle the volume of interest. HR should hang their heads in shame. Simply not up to the job. It will, of course, continue like this until the supply/demand situation changes. When airlines start chasing us, maybe we too will just ignore them. It is the other way round at the moment & we are stuck with behavior from some of these companies that makes one wonder what they would be like to actually work for ! Some years back, I was a candidate for jet2, got the inside nod that I was hired (although they never told me that). I happened to be at LBA, kept calling HR for the possibility of a quick chat, as I was there and after 6 attempts was put through o some NOrthern chick who kept calling me Duncan (my name is Nigel). i Told her to forget it, enjoyed Bramhope & joined someone else !

Listen guys if you don't like the deal.....don't accept it. It's the only way T&C's will improve at all these type of operations. Beats me why they are so reluctant to give a fair deal to ex turbo prop drivers but roll the red carpet out to ex Mil guys like Binsleepen who have no commercial experience whatsoever, but who have an expert opinoin about anything and everything and will give it with authority and conviction.
Having flown everything from C150 to the Electra from DC 9 to 777, with PPL's to Mil to wannabe Astronauts!...with the odd exception, guys with commercial experience are far better suited....and most of them are a safe bet for passing a line check.

"Beats me why they are so reluctant to give a fair deal to ex turbo prop drivers but roll the red carpet out to ex Mil guys like Binsleepen who have no commercial experience whatsoever"

It's because we are better than you.
Hope that explanation helps.
:ok:

Enjoying the fishing expedition Tourist?

Hopefully that's all it is and not another ex-mil bod gracing us mere mortals with your Uncle Albert stories that all start...."During the War....."

I'm Off! 4th August 2011 15:50

Well, the last TR course had 5 ex-TP guys and only 1 ex-Mil on it, so perhaps best not to get too carried away with it all chaps, especially not to the point of denigrating whole communities of people...

With this kind of aviation exposure LOTSO, I'm surprised that none of your co-pilots ever told you to keep your words sweet because one day you might have to eat them.

I met Binsleepin once, a thoroughly nice guy and obviously a talented pilot. I can only see him being a credit to the Jet2 operation. Rightly or wrongly, management can curry favour or ease a pilots path any way they want.

Had it not been for an economic downturn he'd probably be starting a 747 rating at an airline that most of you lot have been applying to like mad these past few months..!
