Wasn't mentioned to me, but maybe the loyalty bonus takes care of that issue. It's only a 6 month contract after all.

2 accquaintances of mine just got accepted and neither of them were rated. Both had ATPLs with about 1500hrs total (TP). Another friend and colleague with the same experience never even got a phone interview!! :ugh:

Firestorm,

Thank you for the reply - I think your remark about the loyalty bonus covers the bond issue.

lookingup 18th November 2010 14:26

Hey JJ145
when and why were you asked to do the online assessment?
as i haven't heard anyone else on here doing these! have you already been to the J2 assessment days?

cheers lookingup

Floppy Link 18th November 2010 16:22

I was asked to do the online assessment once I'd been invited down to Leeds. Some of the guys who attended at short notice were asked to complete them after the interview day.

Just had a call. It's a no for me, apply next July if still interested.

(9500TT, 4500 on type).

Jetjockey145 18th November 2010 23:46

Hi lookinup.

I attended the assessment day last week in Leeds. I was asked to complete the tests a week later. I understand others have been asked to complete them recently also.

Can't tell you much more than that really. I understand that they started by recruiting cadets some time ago, followed by non type rated pilots. Finally (more recently) they have moved on to recruit type rated Pilots.
I believe the last two groups were further subdivided and recruited as experienced and not so experienced types.

Now obviously there is a strategy / plan afoot here (demographics) to best serve the company in both the short and long term. I don't have any inside knowledge, it's just common sense. Mr Meeson hasn't got where he is today by resting on his laurels, he is obviously a sharp individual.

Why some people are chosen over others......? There will always be an element of luck in addition to all other considerations.

Just my tuppence worth.

Jetjockey145 20th November 2010 00:41

Ah haaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Yorkshire-Pud 20th November 2010 08:21

Liability

...unless the tests are used as a filter before interview, there are those that might suggest they are used to limit the company liability should a candidate be employed and later down the road turn out to be a 'particularly unsavoury character'

Agree with the others, if they like you and you're a good fit then I guess the tests are 'filed'.....just in case.

Jetjockey145 20th November 2010 12:36

Unsavoury??

Jethros fleet listings has jet2 as getting 2 more 757's where will these come from.:)

Aerofoil 23rd November 2010 17:36

Has anyone heard a yes/no from Jet2 from the type rated selection almost 2 weeks ago yet???

PAPI-74 23rd November 2010 18:00

Try 4 weeks here.
This is very poor and my faith in this being a good company to work for is not being backed up.

No news could be good news?

Mintflavour 23rd November 2010 22:02

I called them to see if I was successful. I was told that I have been put on a reserve list. Not sure if this is a hold pool or a stalling tactic. Either way at least it is not a pfo.......yet.

So i've heard a mate of mine was offered 70 %, said no. A week later gets offered 100 %.How odd .

Buy one get one free 26th November 2010 20:30

"How odd" ? Not really.

Simple economics forces are at work in the market place.

J2 think that the fish will bite in sufficient numbers with a 70% contract;
so why pay more than you have to?

70% is not producing the numbers required, so the beancounters approve 100% for those niches which need it. But which fleet? And, what extra qualifications might they be looking for?

People still leaving for the sandpit, including those ready for command.:oh:

fade to grey 27th November 2010 13:22

Sorry,
my 'how odd' was supposed to sound a little bit ironic, with a side salad of sarcasm.

73addict 27th November 2010 16:54

BOGOF

There are more than economics at work. I have a colleague who had signed a 70% contract with J2 and they have now offered, 1 month after initial offer, a 100% contract!

Maybe they are also testing the water to see who is serious about joining them!! Just a thought. :ok:
