So, just to clear up something here.

You get payed 1500 euro net for the first 3 months you are in training + 77 euro net per diem every day you are out of base, so it is like this:
1. 1500 (you do the cbt at home)
2. 1500 plus 77 * 30 (approx the number of days out of base for the sim sessions)
3. 1500 plus 77 * 12
4. 2900 80 hrs approx, it really depends on a lot of things.

etc....

I attended the DLR on 09.03.11 and just received an email that I am one of the lucky ones that passed the first part.

The interesting thing is that I apparently messed up my English test. So it is possible to pass the DLR without being an ace on all the tests. They wrote me that my basic assessment showed a weakness in English, which they will recheck during the selection process. We recommend to prepare specifically for this part??? Anyone else experience with this???

In my experience most of the tests where not as hard as the CBT's on level 3. I had difficulties with SKT, MIC and VMC which where harder in my opinion. In SKT I was pressing the middle button at least 70% percent of the time which was the other way around in the CBT's.

In VMC there where a lot of other confusing figures and I was totally lost during the 5 back (I just pressed NO 95% of the time). I had troubles witch the MIC test and was completely of from my heading and altitude from time to time. I was really fighting with the controls. I concentrated a lot on the number sequences and don't think I made a lot of mistakes there.

I used the CBT's and Skytest to prepare myself. Skytest helped me a lot for the VMC, OWT, and VLR preparation. I was above 90% in all the CBT's except for RMS 32%, KRN 75% to 85% and VMC 75% to 80%.

The most important thing is to stay as calm and relaxed during the testing. You will make mistakes and **** up some tests but just stay at it. And don’t forget to sit back as far as possible during the OWT test.

For the guys I met on the assessment, I was the Dutch guy with brown hair and eyes and some turbo prop experience. I hope that a lot of you passed as well and to see you in the next rounds. And thanks a lot for all of the info shared in this thread which helped me a lot. Feel free ask any questions.

LHI ?

Could anyone elaborate on what's going on at LHI ?
I've heard lots of rumours about LHI and Air Dolomiti but i would really like to know what's going on.

Especially with the current recruitment in mind. I've heard of people failing the selection although they've performed well.

Anyone ?
Thanks !

ERJ145 Driver 19th March 2011 13:12

How can u tell people have been performing well?

kumbaya 19th March 2011 13:48

The rumour is that they have performed well and didn't get the job. So the question is if these rumours are true.

DLR 25 march

Hi!

I will be coming the 23rd and heading back out the 26th, cos I live awayyyyyy, staying at Motel One (177 for the three nights...).

Regarding KRN, check fast arithmetic tricks, there are a few online, BUT I think they wont ask math or physics...

Thanks for the tip with the cube, I eventually managed it, though back n front still confuses me cos sometimes u forget it its the top or bottom the one to flip away or towards you... anyway, I will play with the carboard cube today and see how I do. I find her german accent kinda amusing :P makes me smile when she goes on about the positions and I get images of old 007 movies.... anyway, off the subject. If you wanna meet to practice the day b4 and trade ATPL questions, lemme know cristianbadia333 at hotmail dot com.

Found a trick for the running memory span or whatever is called, the crazy phone number lady... make cut-off points and remember from there, you gamble, but anyway ur mind is also listening for at least the last 3 or 4 numbers, with cut off points I remember 6 or sometimes 7.

For the visual memory one, I am royally f#$%&d cos beyind remembering 3/4 back its a nightmare. I am happy to get 72/100. I think I wont be making many more neuronal connections till the exam, so I will have to see how it goes.

Best of luck to all guys n girls, its worth a try and do not get nervous, relax and we should be OK.

Drinks on the 25th evening no matter what. :)

Greenpilots 20th March 2011 23:06

Just rumurs around at the moment. Only the people at EN and LHI who know, know.

Sim date

Hello everyone,
I'd like to ask if anyone who had the DLR at the beginning of March/end of February has been given a date for the sim screening.
Thanks and good luck to everyone.

Winwin 29th March 2011 19:16

Hi guys
LHI11, I was there the same day as you, since I can see you're from Dubai I guess you're that spanish dude who thought I looked like Jake Gyllenhall :D
I was the danish guy with the yellow tie :)

For all of you guys on the 25th of march, I hope it went well for you guys as well. I passed and im thrilled about it! Job or no job, my main goal was to pass the "infamous DLR of doom"! :)

Next stop; Sim'ulicious... Won't be easy when you have only flown "renewal" flights for the past 2 years. :)

For the rest of you, just as a reference my last CBT results were like this;
24/03:
KRN3: 84% (this result says nothing about how you will do at the real test)
OWT3: 91% (prepare for a gap of 3 instead of just 2)
RMS2: 34% (3-number blocks worked for me)
ROT3: 97% (I just imagined a normal cube, no pencil or nothing)
SKT3: 98% (I just did it as fast as i possibly could at the test)
VLR3: 100% (Only had below 100% once, guess this is just different from person to person)
VMC3: 78% (******* hard as hell, even harder in the test, but guess they expected that)

At the test itself this was the way I thought it went:
KRN: Quite good, none of the hard ones like 9/7*6792 in the real test
OWT: Quite bad, the 3-digit gap instead of just 2 messed me up big time
RMS: Quite good, this is faster, but if you practice enough its easy
ROT: Went mother******* awesome, found this one very easy
SKT: Went ok it seemed
VLR: Went awesome as well
VMC: Went like ******* !!!!e - €#%# test, but guess thats normal
MIC: Went quite well, but I cocked up after accidentally pressing the wrong button for the aural sequence, which put me off, but guess that wasnt that bad.

So all in all, much like the CBT's, just VMC, OWT and RMS was harder/faster in my oppinion, but they expect that. So if anyone is still going, cheer up.

Guys from the 25th of march, hope it went well - Let me know :)

Burger81 30th March 2011 07:24

Congatulations!

Winwin,

Well done, Congratulations. No news here for me yet.... and from how i felt on the day i am guessing i will get the bad news in due course
I was the big Scottish guy sat right at the front.

Good luck to everyone else from the 25th for your results.

FlyingLolo 30th March 2011 10:17

Congrats Winwin

Hi Guys,

I am the "French guy" from the 25th... I was told bad news came first hmmm...:ugh: Well I really wish I could get through but despite agreeing on your comments on the test, I don't feel so well about my performance over all on my side, and about MIC and OWT in particular. Let's be patient, time will tell.

Good luck to you all, hope I'll see some of you soon again.

March 25th

Hi Guys,

Yesterday I have received the good news, I passed the DLR test!!:)

I was the Dutch guy who stayed at Motel one and left saturday morning.

Winwin congrats! Just to remember who I was we have eaten at the sandwich bar. Hope to see you again!

Good luck Burger and Lolo hope you'll receive the good news soon.

Well done Bas, great news. Were you in the Ibis Bar with us after the assessment? There were 2 dutch guys i remember who were staying in Motel One.

I have now resigned myself to the fact i am just waiting on the bad news email. From previous posters on here, the guys who have passed get told on the same day with the "sorry you failed" emails following a few days later :{ I do hope I am wrong on this occassion though.

Does anyone know when the €191 is paid back to us?

Yes, I passed in january, still nothing regarding simulator. I e-mailed D. Geiger about 5-6 weeks but was told to wait for a date.

A friend of mine who passed about 1,5 months ago was told that they are short of screening pilots.

In the LH thread in the Italian forum there seem to be alot of talk about Air Dolomiti and management hickups at LH Italia, my Italian is limited to what google can translate for me, anyone who can shed some light on what's going on at LH Italia?

If I were you, I'd call D. Geiger. As far as I am concerned, the last FQ (final round) for this year will take place on May 23rd and 24th. So, the sim screening will be happening in the next 2 - 3 weeks. If you want a sim date, you gotta go after it, otherwise you'll be too late.

I wonder what LHI is going to say to all those who passed the 1st part of the DLR but will never get a sim date...

NAVEX320 26th April 2011 13:55

Sim screening ?

Hi,

I am also wondering when I will be given a date for the sim screening.

I passed the first part of the DLR on the 28/01 but didn't receive any invitation for the next step so far !

Cheers

Hank Moody 26th April 2011 15:39

I'm afraid that guys who past the DLR and dont have a simdate yet
are put on the list for 2012.
About the last FQ dont know for sure about 23&24 of may, but it is defintely in that week.

NAVEX320 26th April 2011 15:56

Thanks for the information.

This is exactly what I was unfortunately expecting !

Unfortunately, we can't do anything but wait...
