Information about flying in the Ukraine

I was wondering for some serious advice. So, I may have posted on the wrong message board ;)

I am applying for an EMB145 F/O position with an airline in the Ukraine. They are asking me about my pay requirements. I think this is a start-up operation and they haven't had experience with hiring pilots.

1. Does anybody have any idea what pilots are paid in the Ukraine?
2. Any ideas on what salary I should ask for?
3. Also, do I negotiate medical benefits, housing, moving, etc.?
4. Finally, how safe are airlines flying in the Ukraine. I remember flying Lithuanian airlines (neighboring country) as a pax and I felt very unsafe when they took off in a B737 that was covered in frost (body included) w/o de-icing

I was thinking of asking for a range of 60.000 to 70.000 euros per annum.

Your advice please.

How do think you will get 60.000 euros in salary as an F/O then the normal salary for Captains in the east is about 30.000 euros?

Sorry to tell you but this is not the USA...

Here's some serious advice - don't bother. given a local F/O on something like a B737 would be on under 3,000 DOLLARS per month. Are you capable of doing an air law exam in Russian? How much are you earning in the US with a regional carrier?

Don't get me wrong, it's a great country and nice people (concur on the local talent, Ted!), but you've got beer goggles on in terms of money.

What about safety? Are the planes well maintained, do other crew members follow regulations...are you put in dangerous situations? Etc.

Mate, Iam an FO on the 145, and am currently contracted to the company you are most likely talking about.... If you think youll get anywhere near that amount of cash, you are far off!

Us contract guys are on big bucks here, but the locals are getting paid average to say the least. As for the flying its pretty boring flying around Ukraine, but not much you can do. On the up side, its a quick upgrade if you got the exp.

Good luck and PM me for more into. However iam not on local terms so can only tell you what the locals have passed onto me!
