Sigmar/Thomas Cook question

Ciao!
Anyone can help me to know Thomas Cook better? I made an application for the A320 SSTR programme at the Sigmar Aviation Training.. the line training part is made by Thomas Cook, at the end there should be some kind of short time contract..
I've 500 hrs by now and really can't figure out if it's time to quit or try this chance..
There's really any possibility to be hired at the end of the program, at least to collect hours?
I'm coming from Italy, from the Alitalia Flight School... so you can maybe imagine..
many thanks:)

To my knowledge all pilots who were on temporary contracts this year (20 odd) have been offered full time contracts and TCX are looking to recruit again this winter having been a bit short over the summer, read in to that what you want, however seeing what has happened over the past couple of weeks shows you can never guarantee anything at the moment.

thanks

Thanks a lot... I don't know who to trust or who can rely on...
But I think I'll try to pass the selection next week..
I've been hired in Alitalia last summer, but after AirFrance quitted we all remained "waiting" for something happening..
nothing happened till now!:)

Ciao

Rumours of 50 new hires and 25-30 promotions at TCX. Like I say, rumours.

I have been offered the assessment and really would like to do it - but cannot put up £32k!!

Does anyone know if they will be recruiting DEP and what experience would be required?
I have nearly 1000 TT with 400 + on jets.........

Cheers

If you have a Bus or Boeing on your license, you stand a very good chance of an interview/assessment at the very least.:ok:

Sigmar told me that TC offer only 4 positions per A320 course, although I'm not sure how large each course is.

On the plus side, you do not apparently pay for the whole of the type and line training up front, ie as you do for FR; payment is due before each pahse of the training (type and line) and paid directly to Alteon.

4 on each course, and yes you only pay as you start each phase.

Anyone got a line on who the Chief Pilot is at TCX at the moment? Heard there’s been a recent departure and someone is just keeping the chair warm for the time being.

For information M Mahoney was the chief pilot for TCX now departing to be chief pilot with Emirates.

The selection process for chief pilot position is still running, however we have a temporary CP Tim Cheal.

bucket_and_spade 18th September 2008 18:05

Chief pilot at Emirates? I think you mean VP of Training!

spaceman18 18th September 2008 18:15

Rumour Ive heard from a creditable source is that the new chief pilot is from outside the company, and has put forward ambitious plans for fleet replacement and expansion.

Frafly60 19th September 2008 09:12

what if you've already spent much, much more to get where you are now: an useless, sad situation?? ;)

Thanks a lot everybody.. maybe in the meanwhile Alitalia will hire me again in few days!
I'll try the Alteon assessment, if I'm still on time.

Make sure that the Alteon connection is continuing with TCX and will not be finishing soon before you part with your money.

[QUOTSigmar told me that TC offer only 4 positions per A320 course, although I'm not sure how large each course is.E][/QUOTE]

Is that a definate fact? Does anyone know how many per course?

If you only have a 'chance' of being one of the 4 it seems like a ridiculous gamble for £32k. It would have though if you made the grade you would be in? This is the case with FR

CABUS 22nd October 2008 11:05

Its more of aTCX course than an Alteon one so they only accept a total of 4 people per course to start the TR and once accepted they ask for the 32k. I think the last course is in Feb anyway so not many more cadets to go.

Flaperon75 22nd October 2008 14:40

4 people for the course starting in November, all passed the Thomas Cook selection (this was run with staff from TCX and Alteon). This is the total number of people on this A320 course with Alteon.
8 people on the course in January.
As you have passed the TCX assessment, once the course and line hours are complete, Thomas Cook are in a position to offer you contract with immediate start rather than have to then undergo further assessments.

Rumour Ive heard from a creditable source is that the new chief pilot is from outside the company, and has put forward ambitious plans for fleet replacement and expansion.
Not a rumour spaceman, new CP is Paul Hutchings and he is in post. However, any "ambitious plans" will be decided well above his pay grade.

line training base

Can anyone who has done this sigmar / alteon / TCX scheme tell me where they (and others from their course) have been based for line training? and at what stage in the process they found this out.

Thanks
