NEXGEN and India

Anybody know anything about next generation recruiters (or NexGen)?? Are they for real? thier lack of communication makes me believe they are bogus.

I'm thinking of taking a job in India in an ATR, but don't want to get hosed. Is it better to go straight to the companies or work through rishworth, chase, titan, aeroprofessional, etc?? Seems like the jobs are all the same, but the pay is all over the board.

Cheers,

Chaba

The pay, $7,300 per month captains is far less than first officer pay at some airlines in Europe. Better opportunities out there. It gets even worse. 6 days on 1 day off. That's direct from the recruiter's mouth!:}

I asked them some questions using the Instant Messenger on their web site and they responded promptly. But i to am very suspect of an outfit that pays 747-4 half what a 777 guy would get. Shows they just don't understand the business they are in...

PS The Air India web site shows you can apply directly, why have a middle man? Give it a try.:D

If you are trying for India, try Kingfisher or Deccan for ATR PIC directly.

I'll second what condor says. Go directly to the company you want to work for. They won't mess you around. Right now they are pretty desperate for ATR crew. Money ok with overtime. However six days working each week gets pretty tiring so you'll need the leave they give you.

Sorry, I can't leave that one go - have the airlines there changed utterly in the last week? I have one US buddy who went home on leave, checked his bank account, saw he was paid 1/3 of what he was due, rang up the Ops Director of the airline to ask what was happening, and was told that they were afraid he wouldn't come back from his leave so they paid him 1/3, and when he arrived back in BOM they would transfer the balance. Another Captain ended up in a direct e mail correspondence with the boss of his Indian airline (one of the above ones you have been advised to deal with directly) in an attempt to get paid after a 4th month of not being paid on time, he resigned shortly after that. There are only 2 airlines there that I know of who I haven't heard a complaint about payments in the past 3 years. Anyway, you get the idea.

I'd also suggest if you don't want to get hosed that it's a reasonable precaution to think twice about taking work with an agency that is from the country in which you will be working as a contractor...

I do not know, but is it different if you come in via the agency? I have heard cases, through agencies, that "payments are delayed due *****, will be paid on time, Payment is made dirctly by the company, plase contact your company HR etc...."

bear11 7th August 2008 09:10

Yes, that's a fair point, many agencies are simply taking a "finders fee" there now and washing their hands of anything that happens after, they have nothing to do with looking after the pilot if there is a problem. Apart from that, anyone who goes through an agency and is told "when we get paid, we will pay you" needs his head examined. The primary reason pilots deal through agencies when they're flying somewhere they don't know much about is to ensure they get paid!

Caveat emptor - ask the questions, you have no excuses as there are plenty expats down there to tell you who pays on time, who actually has a roster, who provides decent accomodation, who maintains their aircraft, and who is "sneaky". And, I'm sure, a few who will snigger at the claim that an agency can have you in India and flying with the airline within 30 days!!

From climbto350.com:

"NexGen offers Secured Employment for 3 Years! Even if furloughed, Next Generation Aviation Recruitors will continue to pay your contract!"

Do these guys have a crystal ball, or are they just blowing smoke up peoples arse? Does anyone have personal experience with this outfit?

BTW, NexGen's principals may have Indian names, but the company claims to be based in the US (Orlando)

Bear 11,
Indeed caeat emptor here as well as in any deal.

what I stated was from a contract employee who claimed that his agency informed him that due to .....whatever....his salary is delayed and that he should talk to Company HR...

As I said it is second hand info, ....

ATR

Direct Kingfisher contract gives you more. You are getting medical and loss of licence insurance. If you are going with agent you do not have it. I am working in India more then 3 years. Too much flying on ATR 5-6 days a week.
So good luck
