lhs to rhs again
hello
i currently fly as a captain on the short haul fleet of a major european carrier (dutch side of the franco-dutch tie up)fed up with all the hassle(security,long days,slots,delays etc etc),i am seriously considering rendering a stripe and go back to a f/o position on the long haul fleet. problem now is that the company does not allow a step back . my question was for people flying with other major carriers if 1)your company allows this option? 2)does it sometimes happen? thank you |
Yep, fairly often in BA, for the reasons that you state plus improved lifestyle. i.e commuting from abroad.

My crowd is not quite a major but I did exactly as you propose.
I am a long-hauler by choice but was never going to pass up a jet command opportunity. We don't have slot hassles down here but the multiple sector days and no long blocks off got old. As soon as my "lockon" was served on the 737 I transferred back to longhaul. I have never regretted the move. Left to right seat change did involve a CRM trg module. :ok: |
Unfortunately in some countries in southern Europe once you get the fourth stripe it feels like it's bolted to your shoulders and to your ego and therefore it's impossible to make the switch from Left to Right.
The structure of the company as well is not built in order to allow such "downgradings" . |
Flying for a mid-sized Northern European airline, and at our place;
1) Yes you can, 2) Very few by choice. |
