BA Longhaul commuting
 

Hi all, I just have a quick question about flying longhaul with BA. Are there overseas bases at all, or is it possible for someone to commute to a UK base (from Toronto for instance), or is this just not feasible with the amount of flying done.

No overseas bases - but no reason why you could not commute from Toronto. I can think of 3 of our longhaul pilots already commuting from there.....
With a 'bidline' rostering system, it does help if you have a little seniority behind you though - but that will come with time.....
Why not ask your local BA office in Toronto to put you in touch with a locally based pilot who may be willing to discuss details with you direct? - They know all of the commuters for sure.....

Bear in mind you won't be able to buy rebate tickets when you initially join the Company so you'll have to have a plan for the first 6 months - 1year ( can't remember which).

As a Junior Longhaul pilot you may well be looking at 5-6 trips a month with pesky 2-3 day gaps between each one so until you get enough seniority to bid for suitable triplines the only way of massaging your roster would be by trying to trip swop with your colleagues.

Sadly the town office are unlikely to give "local" pilots details, one of them might drop in here if you wait long enough.
