Hello all...
I was just wondering if anyone could give me any information on this company please. I understand that they have close links with the Romanian company Carpatair. I'm going to be marrying a Moldavian girl this summer and going to live in Moldova and I'm looking at various possible options for jobs, including some part-time arrangement with my current UK company. Does anyone know if Moldavian airlines would consider hiring western pilots???
My details: JAR ATPL, 2000 hours total time, 700 hours turboprop >20t, current turboprop command with UK operator. Fluent English, good French, a little basic Russian.

Moldavian and Carpatair (actually the same company) will hire western pilots (over 50% of their pilots are foreign, mostly spanish and french). The only thing is regarding your rating, you will have to pay for the saab 2000 / fokker 100 rating or you will have to sign a bond with them (5 years) for the rating. Overall is a good place to work if you live in one of the bases (if you don't live in Chisinau you will be home just a few days/month), prepare for 900 hrs/year and a lot of stby duty. :}

Thanks very much for the information - it was just what I wanted to hear! 5 years sounds like a fairly long time but it's better than paying up front I suppose...

it's the same contract for Moldavian, most likely as an expat you will get a contract through another company and you'll have to pay your taxes wherever you want.

Moldavian & Carpatair are seperate companies, the CEO of both companies Nicolae Petrov, a Moldavian and actually a very nice chap, started Moldavian but there was only so far that could expand thus Carpatair was born.
Carpatair, with a sizeable fleet, within the EU, and with Romania being JAA, might be reasonably straightforward to get in to however Moldavian only operate 1 x SF340, 1 x S2000 & 1 x F100, there are work rights required to work in Moldava and indeed licence validations, indeed it was quite recently that the Moldavian CAA attempted to block Carpatair pilots operating the Moldavian aircraft.
However working in Timisoara ain't so bad, a large beer at hotel prices costs 1 Euro and staff travel between Timisoara and Chisinau would be quite easy.

almost correct, however neither Carpatair or Moldavian operate SF34 anymore. Moldavian has 2 saab 2000 (ER-SFA and ER-SFB) and 1 Fokker 100 (ER-FZA).

There is no validation from JAA licence to moldavian licence.
