Germans flying for BA?
 

Hi folks,

are there any Germans out there in this forum flying for BA? I would like to know the following:

1. Did you experience any difficulties in transfering your German licence to the CAA?
2. What in brief is the selection process all about?
3. How long in total do you have to expect for the selection process (Applying until engagement)?
4. How does a typical carrer look like (e.g. 1st short-haul flights, then long-haul)?
5. Time to upgrade?
6. Do any of you shuttle, preferably on long-haul fleets?
7. Are the details given at www.ppjn.com still up to date?

Most of the questions the OP asked can be found by spending the time to go through the extensice BA DEP thread. To cut to the chase:

1) Can't help you, but you need to do this yourself, BA won't. Think BA will take a JAR licence.

4) ALmost certainly short haul for the first 4-5 years, then free to bid to any other P2 position.
5) Currently 8 years for Gatwick shorthaul command, 12ish years for junior Heathrow shorthaul command.
6) Do you mean commute? The long haul fleets have commuters literally all over the planet. People commute from New Zealand and Australia! There are plenty of commuters on short haul too and commuting from Germany should be very do-able as long as you are prepared to make some sacrifices.
