Novair and Premiair - Good operations to work for?

A Scandinavian (Danish/Swedish mix) mate of mine just finished his flight training and instructing in the States (approx 2000 hours total time with 800+ multi) and is considering moving back to the region for family reasons.

Yes, I have already looked at both of their websites for information.

Any pilots out there know about Novair and Premiair? Are they good operations to fly for? What aircraft would you generally start on?

Cheers

watch novair if herr bostrum is still around

IŽd tell him to go for Premiair. Have friends there. Good and professional organisation. Would probably start out on A320.

I have to agree with HS. Premiair would be the place. Have several friends flying there, and they are all very happy chaps! Seems to be losing money for the time being though. Sensitive charterbusiness i guess!

How about Maersk Air, Cimber Air etc. they are both hiring quite a few pilots for the time being?

had a couple of captains go to Premiair for line training on the 300; they loved it

Moonbeampurple,

Good to hear from you. Yes, he is inquiring into opportunities at Maersk and SAS as well. My impression is that he is looking for advanced equipment and varied destinations (probably not the same-old hub-to-hub flying) - I think IT flying would appeal to him more than scheduled flying.

How are things are Cargolux? Done any interesting flying lately - any Africa flying? Where has the 747-400 taken you recently?

Cheers

Hi LD,

things couldn't be better at the moment. I'll depart LUX tomorrow evening on my last flight for the company. I'm moving back to my old company in Denmark.

Haven't been to Africa lately(great), been doing a few trips to the US, and Far East and Australia.

Hope things will work out well for your mate!

Moonbeampurple,

Back to Cimber Air is it? Good for you. I am sure landing 3-4 times per day is preferrable to landing 3-4 times per month. Those long cruises can be brutal!

Will you return as a captain and fly the ATR-72?

Best of luck - I think you are making a wise lifestyle choice.

Cheers

Have a great flight Moonbeam. Guess youŽre gonna have to buy some beer during layovers?

Looking forward to seeing you more in CPH!!

And watch out, runway at SGD is, as you well know, not long enough for flaring at 100` eyeheight at 145kts. :) I will have spyes ther for you first comeback landing.. Pay back time :) :)

Does anyone know anything about Britannia Nordic and how the pilots and crews like or dislike working there?

Moonbeam Purple 24th April 2001 00:31

LAV & HUNG,

I just greased the big lady onto 06 for the last time the other day! What a sad feeling somehow!

However, I'm very much looking forward to return to DK again.

Hung - I'll pay you back later! I'm sure it's gonna be a nice show though! :) :)

If you want to see a proper salary flying into your account every month, keep a good distance to Swedish companies. Between Novair and Premiair, no question that Premiair is ranked #1.

shaggie 25th April 2001 23:38

moonbeanpurple,

how are things in cimber?
F/O pay? min requirements?
Why the hiring, are they expanding or are pilots moving on to other companies?

ciao

P. Jacobson

You said to stay away from Swedish companies because of salary...is that because it's low or that you might not get one?

Still wondering about Britannia Nordic...anyone...anyone?

P. Jacobsen 26th April 2001 22:30

Catans,

Yes, you will get a salary, but compared to salary levels in other west European countries, it must be fair to say the salaries are on the lower side. NB! I am not talking about SAS, and most probably not about Premiair. I have worked on time-limited contracts for two Swedish operators a few years back, but if there is some interest for it, I can get more details from friends still flying in Sweden.

Moonbeam Purple 27th April 2001 13:26

Hi shaggie,

1. Good enough for me, for the time beeing! :)
2. Don't know - 1000 hours/150 twin or 700 hrs and some turbine time!
3. I guess it's a combination!

P Jacobson,

It would be great if you could get any info for me. I am looking at moving back to Sweden and I am just curious about the working conditions there.

I appreciated your help.

P. Jacobsen 27th April 2001 23:17

Catans,

According to a Novair insider, when joining, you are put on the salary scale according to experience; hours, type rating or no type rating etc. There are three levels of entry. With a B737 type rating (and good experience, whatever that is) you take home Skr. 35.000,-/month before tax as first officer and Skr. 47.500,-/month before tax as captain. I do not know if they will give direct entry as captain. I do not have the exchange rate on my desk (sorry), but this is way below what you can take home as a contract pilot in other european countries.
