IS THE HONG KONG CHALLENGE WORTH IT?

Is going to Cathay Pacific and working as a second officer on the passenger fleet like a dream come true????

Sitting in the cruise for 10+ hrs AND not doing ANY take off's or landings? No thanks.

I believe the major problem is that you do not get a seniority. It might be that you remain as a boy pilot for several years.

Otherwise for e.g. the SAA boy pilots(S/O) on the 747 seem to be very happy - good status and progression.

The Cathay freighter way could be the better choice, although they most probably do not interview guys with the min. experience as stated in the ad`s.

In the wannabes section you will find some stuff about Cathay.

Cheers

The guy from Cathay who phoned me to ask me to go to the S/O interviews said seniority was accrued from the start date as S/O. I turned it down anyway though, as I meet the F/O mins, and cathay wouldn't be my first choice. They had dug up a very old application form.
