How do you make them pay what is yours

Ok Fellows, a serious issue for a change.

I am working for a Saudi-flight department flying their B727's.
Since last September a less than ideal situation has prevailed. Lets put it in simple terms. I or the other crew has not been paid our expences or perdiems.
Salary is a month behind more often than I would like to think. It can be in the bank as early as around the 10th but as late as the 24th or even later like last summer when they where 2 months behind.

We have tried all the nice and polite ways in order to get paid, but all we get is excuses. Yes leaning the airplane has been considered but is not doable due to the ownership and front-companies.

I am not likely to leave the company as I do not have a secured contract or position elsewhere. Also as the amount owed is substantial ( 27000 USD by the end of the month )it is very unlikely that I am just going to walk away.

If you have any suggestions as to handle this situation or you can recommend a aviation lawyer ( Barrister ) please Email me.
Also I am more that interesed if there are other people around with similar experiences.

I hear that a very large lease company, now about to pull out of Saudi after many years flying for them, because they can't afford to continue without payment on time!
Cheers!

I know how that feels, and it's certainly not pleasant !

I believe the real question here is actually: "will the company survive for another week, another month, another year or another decade ?"

If the company will survive, get a lawyer !
If it won't, get a lawyer ! See what's more expensive: stay at home (looking for another job of course) or go fly ? Don't let your bank account bleed to death...

I guess a strike is the last thing they need (especially if there's a chance of saving the company) so let's forget that option.

I know a guy who took an appointment with the manager and brought a baseball bat (or was it a sword ?) and a very intimidating friend with him ! He had nothing to lose, made a very impressive show in the manager's office (in private, door locked, of course) and he got a big check ! But I think you're not in the same situation... yet.

Have you tried black magic ? 'Sometimes makes incredible results ! (kids, don't do this at home)
;)

Hey JJ,

Sounds like you work in the same place as me. Do you wear a Jonnie Cap at work?

Last months pay is still not in the account.
Have absolutely no respect for the people I work for... Get even time is getting closer.

Things aren't getting better, and unfortunately your company might have already passed the point of no return... Now what do you DO ? Don't wait until the sky falls on your head.

Decisions, decisions...

Flying_steph,

JJ works for a corporate flight department and not an airline, therefore strike action wont do him any good. He will be replaced within seconds.

JJ, which country did you sign your contract in? Have you spoken directly to the “principle” rather than his lackeys? I still don’t understand why you cant put a lien on the aircraft? It has a registered owner! How much are the INS’s worth?

Good Luck,

Mutt.

Hi ,
I thinks its depends a lot whom you work for. In Saudi its sometime not advisable to sue a local. The legal system diifers a lot from the western point of view and its to get into real trouble in the kingdom. If you do somethimg do it out of the country.
Good luck

Many peoples living depend on salary. It is not right to not pay.
Law is law for all in Saudi too.

Many times it is so that owner does not know what is happened. Office workers and other with control of money do it. There is much dishonesty.
